No criminal charges for DW4!

Great news today for Deshaun. This does not end the civil suits, but it certainly helps his case to play football.

It means he won't go to trial for allegedly breaking any laws. He isn't being charged with any crimes.

So if he is not being charged with anything how come he still has to worry with the civil cases?

Not guilty in a criminal trial, found responsible in a civil trial.
"Beyond a reasonable doubt" is a harder bar to hit than "a preponderance of evidence."

A big difference is that OJ went to trial. For Watson a grand jury determined that there was not enough evidence to go to trial. Generally, a grand jury indictment is even a lower bar than a civil suit verdict.
I expect that DW will be willing to pay to make it go away. If so, the accusers would probably be wise to make a deal.

It's been the opposite - he has not been willing to pay to make it go away. He wants to defend his innocence and his name...paying off an accuser doesn't accomplish that. And that's why it has dragged on so long.

You can sue anybody for anything. There are civil cases all the time...it's why we have so many #### lawyers.
The burden of proof in a civil case is not as high as a criminal case. OJ Simpson is a good example..."not guilty", but assessed huge penalties in civil court.

So basically it’s about how much he is going to have to pay them to go away on the civil suits? Just thinking if they did not have the evidence why pay anything?

There is a difference between criminal law and civil law

Think about it in terms of the OJ Simpson trial.
OJ was found not guilty in the criminal trial (although DW won't face a criminal trial now), but OJ lost the civil trial was was ordered by the court to pay monetary damages to the victims.
DW won't be facing any criminal charges or going to jail, but he could still lose the civil cases and be required to pay monetary damages.

I asked my masseuse if it was unusual to get an erection during a massage...the masseuse replied, "not at all it happens all the time." So I said, "well do you mind keeping it out of my face."

They must not have had any evidence because it's extremely easy to get an indictment.

yep, really should help the defense in the civil cases. the Grand Jury decided there was not enough evidence to even go to trial.... so no criminal trial at all.
