Ohio State and LSU beat us bc they had unstoppable offensive attacks

Sep 6, 2021, 6:55 PM

It was not our offense/scheme/play-calling that cost us those games.

In both those matchups we score enough points to win the respective games, but we could not stop them from scoring.

In the 2015 National Championship - our offense was doing just fine. Alabama beat us bc of an onside kick and overall great offensive play.

We lost a defensive game on Saturday. It is not time to burn it all down and start again.

That is almost laughable.

Have a little faith in a coach, a team, and a university that has time and time again delivered. They have earned that.

You do realize that Tony Elliott was a co-OC in 2015, right? I'm sorry but if you haven't noticed a difference in the offense since Jeff Scott left then I'm not sure what you are watching.

Hey hombre, might wanna check the facts:

2020: 43.5 ppg
2019: 43.9 ppg
2018: 44.3 ppg
2017: 33.3 ppg
2016: 39.2 ppg
2015: 38.5 ppg

Jeff got hired 12/9/2019... I think you can do the math....

Hey Hombre I'm not sure what point you are trying to make with those statistics.

This is not just this first game.

Even in the games where we're expected to beat teams down, we've struggled running the football.

Do you not see that?

And yet we're being told that running the football is very important. Last Saturday, I felt like we've totally abandoned the running game. If you're going to do that, you better at least make it easier on the QB somehow.

A few years ago when Clemson faced oklahoma with Stoudt at QB, many fans were concerned (admittedly so was I). But our offensive gameplan gave Stoudt easy quick throws.

To be fair to the O-line last Saturday, I felt like DJ held the ball too long. The O-line can only hold for too long. I have not looked at any film on the game, but it looked like he missed a few receivers going across and opted for the longer passes.

Definitely, there the offense has regressed. If you trust the recruiting experts, then our O-line should be pretty good. Why is it not? What is being coached?

If Saturday's game is an indication of offensive regression,

then UGA's offense must have regressed too - right?

Neither team played well offensively on Saturday, it was a defensive struggle, one played by two of the top four teams the country.

We came up a little short, but I have total faith that we will be just find offensively and will finish this season well!

Yeah I forget how high-powered Georgia's offense was last year...

They averaged 32 PPG. Different note - that is a nice brown

LSU won because nobody was beating them that year. That and TL had a terrible game.

It would've been nice to be a bit more competitive but I suppose that's asking too much.

You are so wrong

Sorry, but Ohio State did not have an "unstoppable" offense. They struggled big time passing the ball against Northwestern the week before. If it weren't for Trey Sermon running like an absolute madman (331 yards), they would have lost. Justin Fields was absolutely terrible (114 yards passing, 0 TDs, 2 INTs). Then he throws for nearly 400 yards and 6 TD passes against us. The problem was our defense was terrible. At some point the homer glasses have to come off.

Against LSU, there was a point where we were up 17-7, had the ball with good field position and Trevor missed an open receiver for what would have been a TD. Then everything collapsed.

I'll admit LSU's offense was going to erupt at some point because the two Joe's were just too good. CBV disguised and switch things up, but they figured it all out during the 2nd quarter.

If we had gone up 24-7, it could have been different. But I'll admit: Perhaps not.

Sure, LSU was better than us. On the other hand, Ohio State just wanted it more and the scheme of our pass defense was clueless. Fields' primary receivers were open all game. NU confused him the week before by clamping down on his primary receivers and forcing him to read the entire field, which he could not do.

Exactly. Both of our offenses scored 3 points. UGA's defense scored the other seven.
