Ohio State 4* receiver transfers from Ohio St. to Alabama

This is really getting out of hand with the transfer portal.
I guess recruiting will continue throughout every player's time at school.
I like Dabo's stance with the transfer portal but worried that if we continue on the path of not accepting transfers then we'll really have a hard time beating top teams like Bama and Ohio State who do.
What are ya'll's thought's here?

It’s certainly a different world now. Clemson will adapt or die. Darwin’s survival of the fittest was really about those that survive as those that adapt the fastest to changing environments. You may know that already. Let’s see how we do. I know Dabo made Coach Pesrman the portal manager.

Dabo seems to have a plan for most scenarios
I’m sure he has one for the portal. Just hope he doesn’t wait too long to implement it

If we can make room

For legacy players and kids of friends then we ought to be able to make room for an elite player presuming his character is solid.

Exactly let them come compete. Don't guarantee them anything. Healthy competition makes teams better.

the transfer portal became a "thing"
Not knocking the kid, but Alabama doesn't have "Kids of friends" in their starting lineup
and like you said it's all predicated on the transfers passing the "character test"
I'd have no problem with Clemson accepting a "Justin Fields" transfer if we were ever in a tweener year at QB with no set starter or no doubter talent at QB.

When it comes to college football, in Dabo I trust. He's not lost in the changes of his sport. He'll pull the trigger when necessary.

Dabo has already said he will take a top player in the transfer portal if there is a need. Bama lost a good bit of talent and the kid saw the opportunity to have a chance to play for another winning program. Kids like this one are not transferring to ride the pine, they are transferring to play and play for a winning program. I promise you if this kid was in a position of need for us and wanted to transfer to Clemson, Dabo would take him.

This is the beginning of the death of amateur collegiate athletics. Because it’s a new change many people may resist or detest the changes. My thoughts are it’s more fair in two aspects, players are able to receive compensation from sponsors based on their ability to sell tickets and entertain. And two, it evolves college sports into a model more representative of European soccer leagues, which pays its best youth teams in order to attract and develop talent to feed into the premier teams. It’s a wonderful developmental program model.

This isn't the Bear Bryant era of coaching where you take a player so the opponent can't get him. For every player that we get from the portal, it is one that we are not able to recruit. Last time I checked most of our recruits have been 4* or better for several years. What makes you think that a 4* recruit that can't hack it on another team would be better than a 4* recruit that has been in our system?
I think that Dabo has adapted to the idea that there will be situations where accepting someone from the portal could be in our best interest. I just don't think that is going to be as often as a lot of people think.
