The rule is: no matter what somebody not in your derpy tribe does, they are sinister and evil and have Machiovellian motives. On the other hand - and without missing a beat - the Dems are also so stupid and inept they can't tie their shoelaces together, or walk and chew bubblegum at the same time.

It's a never-ending mystery.

At some point we just have to agree these freaking MAGA's are a metastasized cancer in our society and just form some sort of patchwork alliance around them that can keep the lights on and the water running and the army functioning...and the MAGA's forever banned to the sidelines like the hostile tribe of Morlocks they are until they decide it sux and it's dark there in their cave and they might as well come back into the light.

The Dems seriously need to incorporate the center-right RINO's - which encompass the middle third of the electorate - into a broad "Democracy Coalition" (as opposed to "Democratic Party") and share power as a functional democratic coalition, and just sort of ignore the far right (and the far left!) until they realize nobody really gives a rat's a$$ they're over in the corners b1tching, moaning, and carrying on with their wild conspiracy theories...and just govern like adults again.

Dropping Chinese tariffs while promising to raise corporate taxes. This administration is a complete ### show. The only goal, is to make America as weak as the European countries for which they envy.

He should have done this on day 1 and was a political coward

May 10, 2022, 3:38 PM

not to. He's afraid of being seen as soft on China by bozos like yourself.

The tariffs were a stupid idea from day 1.

You understand that tariffs push prices higher, right?

i dont buy that excuse.

tbh, i thought this would be the first thing he did when in office. The libs hated these tariffs.

I'm not so sure about that. Some did. Tariffs historically

May 10, 2022, 4:29 PM

are considered liberal because unions support tariffs. Free trade was always a conservative position and Reagan, GHWB, Dole, Dubya, McCain, Romney all supported NAFTA and GATT. It started changing somewhat with Clinton who was influenced by Robert Rubin. Clinton convinced many Dems to support NAFTA and GATT over the protests of the Unions.

Liberals/Democrats have always been paranoid about appearing soft on communism.

prices higher? (Hint: the tariffs are only a small piece of the puzzle)

Biden is clearly trying to blame the previous admin for his poor economy. All admins do that when things are going poorly - but we as US Americans need to be able see through it.

Re: Ohhhh ... DJT's tariffs on P.R.China - strategic

May 10, 2022, 3:49 PM

DJT's tariffs on P.R.China (PRC) was done as an across-the-board, no-favorites-played tactic to kick the USA in the duff to accelerate the rebuilding of strategically important industries.

Because DJT's tariffs on PRC were across the board, the business interests from 'deep state' Repubs and Dems (via deals with PRC-gov't subsidized PRC industries) were undercut.

Biden's handlers were looking for a politically palatable way of revoking the DJT tariffs, but until this wave of inflation hit, they couldn't think of one.

The opportunity has arisen, and Biden's handlers have told Biden to read the teleprompter and announce 'his' thoughts on this matter.

The 'deep state' Repubs and Dems will truly love it if the DJT tariffs are revoked.

Unfortunately, revoking the special tariffs on PRC will slow the USA's motivation to develop N.American sources of supply for rare earth minerals, other selected minerals for which PRC is the dominant global supplier (i.e., silicon metal), semiconductor manufacturing, etc. There are scads of others, but I'm only posting about industries that are foremost in my mind.

Why would a tax cut be good with inflation

May 11, 2022, 8:40 AM

so high? It would stimulate consumer spending and make inflation even higher.

Spending cuts or caps on medicare, medicaid, and defense are a great idea, but we ain't heard the phrase spending cut since Paul Ryan and Scott Walker retired.
