Oh the irony

Dec 20, 2022, 3:40 PM

of posting that you're "Committed" to a school, when you just transferred out of the one you were previously "committed" to.

I get that there are loads of reasons why kids transfer, but perhaps we can come up with some other word than "committed" - like "signed with" or just "joining." There really isn't any "commitment" any more in college football.

Again, not knocking the kids and their various reasons to transfer - some good, some maybe not so much - but just saying the word "committed" really doesn't hold anything anymore, especially when you can transfer during the middle of the season - you're not even committed to one season.

Why not, look how many people are committed enough to get married and then end up divorced.

True! As someone recently divorced after twenty years. I agree with your assessment

Sadly a commitment does not necessarily mean it is for a lifetime.

or even a season. I would hope there are NIL repercussions for these guys who move around.

I understand where you are coming from, but committed still means something to about 90% of our players.

I really don't have a problem with it

You make a life choice based on a couple of visits to a school. Sometimes you make a poor choice with your limited information. I would be for limiting the number of times you can transfer to 2.

The NIL / $$$ part is crap though.

Offer from your your dream school.....

Just remember, if you come up with a new word for "commitment", you also need a new word for "de-commitment." I've said it before... these kids are NOT taught the meaning of the word commit. They don't know the difference in commitment and involvement. To boil it down, look at a bacon and egg breakfast... the chicken is INVOLVED; the pig is COMMITTED.

Malapropism?
