Offense is the root of the problem!!!

The total lack of consistent offensive production is the root of the problem with this team. Good grief, they blocked a punt for a TD and the score at half was only 14-0. Yes, we had a hard time stopping the power run, but our lack of offense allowed them to dictate the pace, play from in front and our defense got worn completely out. This offense and all who are responsible for it is atrocious!! We have to have a QB who is a willing and capable runner. DJ didn’t pull it and run it until late in the third quarter. What a joke. The lack of any vertical passing game ( even 5-7 yards ) , is unbelievable. DJ and out tight ends can execute that, but we call wide receiver screen our RB up the middle until we’re behind the chains and it’s third and long. After the NC State game , I was sure Birkenstool was an emerging star . Heck , you don’t even know he’s on the field now. Same thing with Collins.We’ll probably win the next 4 and the ACC championship, which is a fine, but we won’t be Elite again until the offense is fixed.

The idea that the offense affects the defense is just not true. The defense could have stopped ND and given the ball back to the offense. This would prevent the defense from getting worn down during the game.
I am not saying the offense is not awful but the defense is also. All the talk about an elite defensive line is just not true (Syracuse). I give the DL a pass for last night having to play 4 vs 8 on offensive line.

When your offense can’t sustain drives and you’re on the field time after time against a physical team like ND it definitely affects you. They overloaded the offensive line over and over again and we made no successful adjustments. But we gave them 14 points on a blocked punt ( which was ridiculous that we’re not better prepared for that , given they’ve done it all season- left a gap right up the middle a mile wide with our formation), and an int. at the 10 yard line. What in the world were they thinking , calling a bootleg to the QB ‘s weak side that close to our own goal line. Good play call , just gotta run it to his strong side so he doesn’t have to throw across his body with a blitz coming. Just idiotic!!

Agree it is not just O. We have been selling this great D but having watched every minute of the games that is not close to the facts. All these ranked teams we have played is myth. Look at the numbers. We have been on a hype tour with coaches and most press buying the hype. When was the last time you heard Breese's name called on the field? DJ has been a mission for Dabo and obviously a fantasy. The scary part is whether it's lack of playing time or talent Cade has not shown much ( syracuse was about worn down small defense). We are not in a good place. GO TIGERS
