We knew this was coming

Of course they're going to change the rule...

Dec 9, 2020, 12:26 PM

Just a matter of when not if.

I'm sure that knowing each team in the CFP semifinals receives $6 million had no impact on this decision.

I wonder how Northwestern and Indiana will vote? And Nebraska?

Regardless of the actual vote count.

They all will vote for it...because they all need the extra revenue that it will bring into the conference.

not to mention the Buckeyes AD. His track record is questionable at best

So what does any of this matter? Current top standings;

Big Ten

East Division Conf All

Ohio State Buckeyes (4) 5-0 5-0

Indiana Hoosiers (12) 6-1 6-1

West Division Conf All

Northwestern Wildcats (14) 5-1 5-1

Iowa Hawkeyes (16) 5-2 5-2

Selection criteria and tiebreakers has always been;

Overall wins> conference wins> head to head> common opponents > winning percentage> some points formula that isn't exactly clear.

OSU doesn't even make the 1st one. any make up game would have to be a conference game. It's almost too late for one.

Both OSU and Indiana's regular seasons are over.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your point

Dec 9, 2020, 1:43 PM [ in reply to Re: We knew this was coming ]

But in most years division ranking is done by conference win percentage, but this year it is done by conference losses (inverse).

"In the event of an unbalanced schedule due to cancellation of games: If two (or more)teams have the same number of conference losses but a different number of conference wins, head-to-head results will take precedence over winning percentage, as long as the two (or more) teams meet minimum number of games language noted above."

from:

So the rules change being inacted now is to change the number of games to be eligible, but the by the rules of their ranking if they are considered eligible then clearly Ohio St has won their division.

OSU will make the playoff having played only 6 games

Dec 9, 2020, 1:13 PM

Only way OSU doesn't make the playoff at this point is if both Clemson and Florida win next week. If that were to happen, it would be down to Bama, ND and OSU for the two remaining spots and I think both Bama and ND would get the nod.

That being said, I don't see Florida upsetting Bama. My final four prediction would be 1-Bama, 2-Clemson, 3-OSU, 4-ND.

All Ohio State has to do is beat Northwestern next week and they're in. Pathetic.

Honestly don't understand this.

Do you think NC State would change a rule to benefit Clemson?

Do you think Clemson would change a rule to benefit UNC?

Why would any AD other than OSU go for this especially if it kept YOUR team out of the championship?
