Observations/questions

Sep 24, 2022, 5:14 PM

1) DJU played a great game and was the clutch leader we need on offense.

2) DJU is still staring down the receivers and delivering the ball too late, which will bite us against a good defense.

3) Our DL should have been shooting the gaps and getting in the backfield to disrupt that weird ### running game where it takes 5 minutes to complete a handoff, yet they still somehow make it productive

4) where is the pass rush?

5) offensive players really fought for the win today. Shipley stretching out, Ngata fighting to make the catch, Allen making the clutch td catch, on and on. I credit DJ for the all around effort on offense.

6) defensive coverage was terrible but I put more blame on the lack of pass rush

I thought we would miss Booth and Goodrich, but I was hoping Jones, Davis, Wiggins, and Greene (and maybe one of the three freshman) would step up and be able to play winning football. The ones that were at the game today looked pretty bad, and I don't know how you fix it in the short run (before next week). I guess we will have to enjoy this win and hope Dabo can work some magic. I'm afraid we might have a few more games like this. GO TIGERS!!!

We have to get in the backfield and wreak havoc

In order to protect our weakened secondary.

I don't see how Beaux Collins can be left out. He had a lot to do with the win!!!

I Was at game today and these are my observations.

DJ played really well and we had a lot more maximum protection plays to give him more time and less options.

The really good news to me is we went to the tight ends which has been something we have not done.

Our receivers did not drop the downfield passes like in previous games.

DJ dropped several dimes in where only our receivers could make the catch and they almost always did.

No turnovers.

On the negative, DJ still has trouble throwing accurately to his left. He also does stare down his receivers but Wake had a lot of man coverage as they were not going to let us run at will like we had in previous years.

Shipley is one tough dude as he took a nasty shot to the leg on a KO return and then made the toughest one yard TD run I have ever seen.

The offense gets an A grade. The defense is another story. I was disappointed with the D Line not wrecking havoc at the mesh point more than our inexperienced DBs getting burned by a QB who was on fire with his throws.

NC State can throw deep and has a legit D. We will have yo play better on D to win.

I am just glad we are at 4 and 0 with a chance to make a statement against zNC State who should be ranked 10 after Oklahoma and Arkansas loss.

Accurate analysis

Sep 25, 2022, 2:18 AM

The offense grew up and mean that in all phases including coaching/playcalling. Streeter opened the play book up and DJ responded. We used our TE's and they were deadly! Our WR's made plays, contested catches, fought for position, and played like Clemson WRs.

DJ with time to set his feet and throw can be a surgeon. I think he just played a phenomenal game. He dropped In some passes that were beautiful. A confident DJ, with confidence in the OL and WR's is hard to handle. DJ is not a burner and not real graceful but he is an effective runner and tough to bring down. How many keep 3rd downs has hegotten with his legs. He is a tad more shifty than given credit for. He's getting much more assertive when to take off and his decisions are coming quicker, his reads are better, he's settled down on those easy throws and is making the hard ones too. It's great to see him playing like he is and I couldn't be happier with his play. 10 touchdown passes 1 pick, that's a heck of a Stat no matter who you've played for 4 games. He has taken the team and they are responding. The offense is playing with confidence and an expectation to win the down and that's what it takes.

TE's are weapons. Look at UGA, their TE's are what makes their offense hum. Davis Allen is as good a TE as anyone not named Bowers. Briningstool (sp) is weapon. Get that kid out there more. I'm hoping to see a lot of 2 TE sets. Those guys used in the pass game can really hurt a defense.

The bad

The secondary OMG. I thought the Ford Brothers were out there. Remember Peter and Andy...yeah we played that bad. The corners got torched. They were getting frustrated, especially Wiggins. I honestly thought Wiggins quit. He had as bad a day as ive seen in a while. But he didn't quit ans made the play to end it. Kudos to not giving up! That's gotta be tough to come back from. But he's talented and will get better because of this. Those recievers are very good, experienced and crafty. They'll get it together.

BT Potter is an unsung hero. Man were lucky to have that guy. To have a kicker that you have complete faith in if it's 52y, is a weapon.

The team is doing what they need to....getting better. We are much better than the team that opened against GT just a couple weeks ago. Call me a pumper, but I'm ecstatic we're 4-0. M9st teams in the country would kill for that record.

2. Yes he is taking way too long, but is it his fault? Either way, that won't work against a good D.
