Obed GITT and let's talk LJD/CJ conspiracy

Facts:
It was said that LJD was in CJ's doghouse.
LJD ain't getting much playing time.
Dabo said LJD needs to grow up. Or maybe it was TE. Or maybe both.
LJD is now transferring.
CJ is an inexperienced coach.
I get all of that. And based on those facts alone, your theory would have merit.
Unknowns:
How was LJD performing in practice?
What's behind the "grow up" comment? CJ exerting his alpha dominance in the locker room? LJD violating team rules? Academics? Attitude? Punctuality? Some combination?
Other commentary:
Shipley has NOT been named the starter. He is getting starting opportunities but has not been crowned the starter for the season.
It's hard to dispute LJD's effectiveness with regard to YPC in the past. That alone isn't enough to entrench him as a starter. Different team (lol obviously) this year, and TBH Emmitt Smith would have trouble running for yards in this offense right now. A team's ability to move the sticks through the air is needed and complimentary in our offense and that ain't happening right now. As much as I LOVE ETN, we didn't have stellar team rushing totals last year yet he found individual success in part because TL could get the defense opened up with the passing game.
CJ alone running off LJD due to inexperience and ego is a yuge reach. I get that you are running hard with a few facts, but you also understand there is far more to these types of situations than what is going to be aired out publicly. I'd go so far as to say that when CDS says a player needs to "grow up", that's the public warning sign that the player will be ######## or getting off the pot soon.
The hyperfocus on CJ in this situation is the hill you are standing on right now and I understand wanting to defend a position but also know the depth of your ability to analyze situations is better than that.
You have a 5% chance that you are hitting the nail on the head. Trouble is, we'll NEVER get the whole story.
Odds are better that the dude ain't falling in line, his performance in practice hasn't been great, and there is friction between him and coaches (not just CJ but add TE and CDS) because he thinks he should be the starter getting 30 carries per game but hasn't earned that based on several of the aforementioned possibilities.
The end, go tigers, luv u bae, and next man up cuz best is standard and bloom where you're planted and the best ability is availability and all goals can still be accomplished and a clempson man needs no introduction and claw thingy woo-hoo.

him off when they all but said as much. We won't ever get the whole story, but you don't have to do much reading in between the lines to get a good portion of it. They flat out said it was about Dixon having to learn the hierarchy or whatever, TE's little story about how he and Andre Ellington had a bit of friction when he came in seemed to confirm what was going on to me.
Dixon felt he had the big peepee cause he had been around the longest, CJ said nuh huh I am the man around here. Friction commenced, and one had to leave. Dixon's behavior very well could have deteriorated along the way out of frustration, but at the root of it this appears to be about who is the alpha in the running backs room.

psychology. you could take the names off the players, coaches, and team and tell me this scenario generically and I'd tell you the same likely happening.
Dabo and TE made it abundantly clear that this wasn't their hill to die on with LJ, it was CJ's. They said numerous times "He has to get out of CJ's doghouse" "This is between him and CJ" They also made it clear that their loyalties in the scenario went towards CJ because they were supporting a fellow coach, which is obvious. If Dabo brings a guy in who immediately draws a line in the sand with a player, for whatever reason, and Dabo allows the player to cross it. Dabo and CJ are both punked, even if the line was bulllshit.
For a talented player getting benched, "He needs to grow up" is about as innocuous as a statement can get without making CJ look ridiculous. It's one increment away from just saying "Oh it's just some old bulllshit between him and CJ".
This just isn't difficult, and people want so badly to assume that Dabo handles everything perfectly that immediately it becomes plausible to them that LJD suddenly, after 3 years of nothing and probably more loyalty than he needed to give us, became a punk.

We're left to read and listen to word choices by those involved, which always tells one a lot if you're paying attention, and assign probability to causes based on personal experience.
My life experience tells me that CJ stepped into a hierarchical leadership role quite suddenly, and with no malice towards LJ, without having the complete skill set necessary to lead all of his players, and probably handled things poorly.
Your life experience tells you Dabo, Tony, and CJ probably handled things perfectly and LJ just turned into a pissssy little rotten apple despite no prior history of such behavior.
One of us is indeed correct.

1) Have we heard of any behavioral issues with LJD in the past 3 years?
2) Last year, LJ undoubtedly expected to be the man. Did we hear anything negative when ETN came back?
3) Could LJ have easily transferred last year when that happened?
4) Did he transfer (i.e. pick up his ball and go home)?
5) Do you think he spoke with Dabo and Elliott when making that decision?
6) If yes to 5, do you think in those discussions they told him he would not be the man and would be lucky to get 10 touches a game?

For four years, you asked for proof when people made assumptions about the Trump admin and laughed at a lot of the claims... you were there a lot to defend em during those claims. The same holds here. If you wanna stick with this narrative, you gotta drum up some actual, concrete evidence. Otherwise, we're just spitting hypotheses.

Because the alternative to what I just said is for Dabo and Tony to get together, scheme up a plan to get rid of LJD, and then intentionally make CJ the fall guy for what is sure to be an unpopular decision.
Your interpretation requires a much, much lower opinion of Dabo and Tony's integrity than mine does. Like I said. They were clear to pin it on CJ, both of them. They were either sending the message that this was CJ's decision and they backed it because he was a coach, or making CJ the scapegoat for something they wanted to happen. I don't buy the latter for a second.

The FBI actually employs behavioral analysts....some study body language, some study speech patterns and intonation, and some actually study linguistics to decipher meaning from word choices. What chumps--what a waste of money! Why don't they just stick with facts?
One of us is using the coach's own words and interpreting them quite literally to derive a conclusion.
The other is using.....hopes and dreams I guess of how they think coaches should act.
One of those is a lot closer to facts than the other.

off of the coaches own quotes. IMO there's plenty of history to see how the coaches would have handled this if Dixon were legitimately being a problem on the team, and this ain't it. All signs point to this being a personal problem between CJ and Dixon, and I think it's completely fair to question letting a first year coach big d!ck your senior running back who has had no history of causing problems.

I think so, at least as it relates to my 40 years of following Clemson football.
I'm sure there have been MANY circumstances where a coach and player didn't get along that well. Cannot recall any where it resulted in a transfer, let alone a position coach unilaterally running someone off as you and obed seem to think happened here.
I mean, CDS and TE wouldn't try to intervene, mediate, or even mitigate? We don't think that CDS has the skill set to sort that out?

Any time a player has been in Dabo's bad graces for something not too major, he loves making some statement about this person being in HIS "love shack" or whatever. He's clear to say that the player isn't living up to his expectations.
Here though, for the first time I can remember, Dabo bends over backwards to say, multiple times, that he's in "CJ's Doghouse". Not Dabo's doghouse. Not Elliott's doghouse. CJ's. I don't ever remember a player getting disciplined before where Dabo pawned off the root of the discipline on an assistant coach.
Elliott also doesn't say anything directly offending him personally, and even says "He and Spiller need to work it out."
Why do you reckon they were so careful to make the distinction?

It's a fairly new development that kids can dip from one D1 school and go play immediately at another one.
I am sure they did to some degree, but their own words tell us they were leaving it up to CJ to make the final calls. To me it sounds like they were almost letting CJ take his coaching lumps and learn through trial and error at the expense of Dixon.

You teach a man a lesson by benching him for a half or a game. You humiliate him by putting him 3rd on a depth chart.
I think Dabo viewed the greater good here as letting CJ learn some diplomacy and tact for the long term and to pick his battles, and with Shipley and Pace looking ok, LJD was expendable. I actually doubt they expected him to transfer.

no? Dixon sits behind Etienne his entire career, even after Etienne surprises everyone and comes back...nary a peep from Dixon. Now all of sudden he's a problem player? Hmm, what has changed, I think to myself?? Etienne gone, Dabo still head coach, Elliot still offensive coordinator, Brent Venables is still there, Don Munson (unfortunately) is still calling the games, the turf was new so maybe that could be it, but let me think....hmmm, what could it be....Oh yes, Spiller became the running back coach this year! That's what changed!
Now I don't work for the Clemson PD, but when I read the coaches own comments and look at what changed, I can start connecting dots with my crayon.

Suspended game 1, limited playing time in 2 subsequent games. Has fallen out of favor because of apparent issues that warranted a suspension.
Hit the reset button, eject, get a full season back. Makes sense.
No one ran him off.

and syntax used by the coaches indicate to me it wasn't over something too bad. "Needing to grow up" and having to get out of CJ's doghouse make me think he didn't beat his pregnant girlfriend or t-bag his teammates.
It is exceedingly rare somebody just up and become a huge problem, there are usually signs along the way. Lots of those MFer's in jail may not have had any legal infractions, but they were cutting the heads off frogs and trying to burn puppies or something somewhere along the line.

mill position coach hire, he's probably going to have a lot longer leash than most. I would imagine there's a degree of loyalty Dabo has to him, maybe going as far to say he feels somewhat of an obligation to him to get his coaching career off the ground. After all, we are dealing with people here.

him off in the sense that you mean it, but I do get the sense (again from he and TE's comments) that they took a hands off approach to the situation.
Maybe he didn't think Dixon would actually leave considering he had stuck around so long. He might of thought they'd work it out, or even if they didn't this would be a good learning experience for CJ. All of that is speculation. What isn't, IMO, is that Dixon's beef with CJ, whatever it may have been over, was ultimately the catalyst for him leaving. Given that Dixon had no history of bad behavior, and had by all accounts waited patiently for his opportunity at Clemson, I think it is fair to cast a questioning eye on CJ.

I mean, a guy with no history of being problematic was suspended and we have a new coach. Coach's fault? Does CJ have that authority?
Can Mickey Conn suspend safeties? Bates suspend DLs? Unilaterally, their choice?

For team rules. I though you wanted it guessed what the team rule was. You think respecting the authority of the coaches isn’t a team rule? Furthermore, if he had swiped a laptop or punched a teammate do you think the issue would still be “between CJ and LJ”? What the heck man—-You’re dead set on white knighting CJ, Tony, and Dabo.

Violated a team rule. Needs to be a better team player.
I'm going with late to covid tests, skipped covid tests, missing class, late to team meetings, skipping workouts, sleeping in meetings, trying to undermine and/or being disrespectful to authority, not participating in team functions/events, not getting with the nutritional program, being disruptive....any of those things. Or perhaps a combo.
And look, if he's telling his coach to F off then that's a problem too.
No matter how good a LAX goalie is in college, she tells her coach to F off and she gets suspended.
Can't blame the coach here. Not white knighting anyone. I just cannot understand the position taken of CJ SPILLER DOESN'T HAVE COACHING EXPERIENCE AND HIS EGO HAS RUN OFF A SAINT THAT'S OUR BEST RB.

Is it plausible to think a guy (LJD) that is talented and has done his time (and by all accounts the right way) could sour when competition opens up and he isn't immediately annointed the starter?
I think so.
Why was he not named the starter? BECAUSE CJ DON'T LIKE HIM? Doubt it.
As said before, probably a combination of things.
And yes, I can see a player getting very frustrated to the point of not being completely compliant with all requirements set forth to the point that it becomes a problem.
Again, no one really knows. But to just straight up blame it on CJ makes no sense IMO.
CJ, who also we should note, has zero history of having relationship problems....and the data there goes far beyond 3 years.

How does this factor in? By team player, are we inferring that he needs to ess CJ's D? Or is he not falling in line with program requirements?
Seems to me that comment would be more reflective of how he has been handling himself as compared with probably 99 other guys on the team.
No one has a history of anything, until the first occurance happens.
I can assure you many many many issues happen within ALL programs that are not put in the media.

1) If LJD was totally at fault and punked out, I'll own it. It'll come out sooner or later.
2) If LJD was totally at fault and punked out, horrible messaging by Dabo and Tony to put it on CJ's shoulders and not own the decisions as head coach and OC. Right or wrong here, they did CJ zero favors.
