Notre Dame road trip

Aug 16, 2022, 8:33 PM

So I want to do a road trip to south bend. Set up a tailgate and see the sights in south bend, watch the tigers win, and then head home to Gods Country.

Questions for the board:

1. RV or car?
2. Places/things to see on the way?
3. How many days in south bend?
4. Bring the wife or bring the crew?

(PS, NO I DONT WANT TO SEE CHICAGO)

We will be taking the same road trip! Were thinking Rv
3 days in Notre Dame to visit the university
Taking the crew (6)
Requested 6 tickets from Iptay. Got 2
Will be buying 4 from somewhere
Someone suggested getting a even spot at the credit in Notre Dame

Univ is nice. South Bend as a town is a dump.

Flying into Chicago- tickets bought

Aug 16, 2022, 10:34 PM

We are going to make 2 hr drive down and then go back Chicago. Hotel rooms are cheaper than South Bend. Last I checked Hampton Inn was $800+ night

The Ark Encounter south of Cincinnati is worth a few hours (or half a day), if that’s your thing.

Someone on here posted about a deal on SITix back in the spring (open a Venmo account to waive fees). I was able to order 4 tickets for around $250 ea. I figured they won’t be getting better pricewise unless both teams really tanked before November.

Also, the other day I bought a parking pass in the paved lot at the golf course for $100. There’s plenty of parking options but the golf course is still a reasonable walk to the stadium.

We're flying to Chicago...

renting a car, and driving to South Bend on the day of the game.

I don't want to see Chicago either. I've been to Chicago more times than I can count and traveling there for work in September.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Chicago is great if you've never been!! South Bend the city

has nothing. The University you only really need a day to see everything if you want to tour the campus. South Bend is really in the middle of nowhere (thus no hotel options really and they fill up quick like Clemson). There isn't even a town an hour away that you would really want to visit. Lake michigan on the Michigan side is cool. A few cool towns like St joe or New Buffallo if you want to head all the way up there before the game, but that's adding driving time. I've been to ND 2-3 times and the stadium/campus is the draw, but other than that really not worth an extended vacation. I usually fly to Chicago and take the train to and from S Bend. Very easy trip.
