By PASSING!
No one is arguing if Kelly can maybe beat our schedule.
Everyone just knows he cannot beat Bama with his legs.

This is the main point in the whole conversation. You summed it up perfectly. But the butthurt people are gonna show up and say you cant criticize anything, ever. Just wait for it.

Makes sense .

But it's sometimes necessary.
Within the proper context, of course.

I would love to know at which point it is acceptable for us common fans to have an opinion.

Some of our fans are stuck in the 1980s.

That was a time when running QBs could be successful. Today, with defenses being faster, stronger, and more sophisticated than ever, that isn't going to work. There is no doubting that Bryant is dangerous with his legs, but no amount of running is enough to compensate for the fact that he isn't a great passer.
To win in today's college football, you MUST be able to pass. I know our coaches like QBs who can do both, but if we have to pick, we must choose passing first. An effective passing game is the best (and sometimes only) way to beat a really good defense. Plus, we simply have way too many talented wide receivers not to use them to the fullest.
Oh, and when we do want to run (and we should), we have some great running backs.
We don't need our QB to run unless it's a busted play or a pass play when he has to scramble.
The longer we wait to play Lawrence most of the snaps, the longer we risk losing a game and/or slowing Lawrence's development.
Bryant is a good player, but he isn't an elite player and never will be.

Clemson is completely stacked 2 & 3 deep at every position. So It doesn't take a great QB to win most of our games. Bryant did pretty Good last year against most of our opponent's because the Talent Gap was so great and the Defense was so good. But he was exposed & failed miserably against the 2 great defenses he faced. Against Alabama in the Playoffs & again against Clemson in the Spring Game. I don't believe anyone hates KB. The Fans just want whoever gives the Tigers the best chance to succeed. I believe in our coaches and I believe it will be settled soon.
Go Tigers, Beat the Aggies & GOD BLESS CLEMSON!!!!

And along stumbles the aforementioned Naysayer, except this time his excuse is "It don't matter, cause yer just gonna lose anyway."
Which being interpreted means, "We might as well lose playing the guys we like instead of the flashy kid. I already made room on the pedestal for DW4. I ain't puttin' nobody else up thar."
Or some other logic destined to keep us from another championship.

So far, UL has gotten outgained 258 yards to 63, and they are down 21-0. I dont think we should lift Louisville up as a shining example of how to beat (or compete with) Alabama.

in January.
I hope our coaches aren't planning on using the same offensive philosophy against them next time.

Incredibly tough to out Bama, Bama. Just ask LSU how that’s worked out for them recently.
However I think most people here know we need to throw the ball well to beat them or am I missing something?
