Clemson basketball that a couple of big time players
Couldn’t solve. It’s about recruiting not coaching. The more big time players you have the greater the chance you WIN. Of course the coach does the recruiting but a Clemson basketball coach has his hands tied in recruiting winning players. How many players on the Tiger team were recruited by other good teams in the league? Any coach at Clemson will have this problem. Big time players DO NOT sign with Clemson. Occasionally a good player develops at Clemson but that is a rare happening.

Good point. But Brad is a pretty unenthusiastic and non-inspirational guy so he can’t recruit well. If i am correct our director of recruiting has been there less than a year. What’s up with that?

Kinda see it, but some can say the same about football until Dabo came along and refused to settle for mediocrity. Chin was always held up high and he knew where we were headed. Brad looks as confident as a rock, and seems to have zero charisma. If your already defeated of course no recruits are going to come.

Dabo will be the first to tell you that his amazing success has been attained with great players. It is easier to recruit football talent to Clemson than basketball talent. If Brownell had the athletes and all the perks that Dabo has we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

Duke basketball vs. Duke football.
I bet Brad would have a better coaching record with Dukes players
Dabo would win a lot less games with Duke talent.

Agree with Mjc. Until Dabo, we didn’t have class after class of superstars. Dabo always points to Tahj and CJ as the turning point. Landing them changed the narrative…..Clemson does get big name recruits. Brad is not as inspiring.

Well, he did get some good players (four stars) but they transferred. Wonder, how the previous coaches (Barnes, Foster etc.) were able to find great athletes. I know how Tates Locke did it.
