on the all-time great Clemson QB single-game performances?

A: Top 3
B: Top 5
C: Top 10
D: Top 15

final answer

Whoops I read this wrong. I thought it was asking Top Clemson QB ACC:CG performances. If strictly QB performances all time, probably not even in the top 25.

E. Final answer

I say B: Top 5

1. One of the best turnover defenses in the country and he threw zero picks.
2. Huge stage. Hardware on the line, and a spot in the playoffs on the line.
3. He threw 79% completion percentage.
4. He scored 2 touchdowns one in the air and one on the ground.
5. Threw for over 250 yards.
6. Managed the game perfectly the entire time he was in.

Not top 10

Woody Dantzler probably has 3 of the top 10 with some of the teams he played on. We were great last year because of our D...certainly don't need some article someone else wrote when I saw the game for myself. I will say it was probably KBs best game he has played though.

Woody at GT
Woody NCSt
DW Bama
DW Bama
DW UNC
Willie Simmons UNC comeback true frosh
CW Coots 63-17 1st & 35
just off the top of my head that I recall QBs having a bigger singular impact on a game than KB and Miami, I think KP to Jacoby OT game was more to do with Parker than us trouncing Miami was to do with KB.

I LOVE Willie Simmons for that game. But in no universe

was his performance against UNC in 2000 better than KB's against Miami.

UNC wasn't even that good. Willie was 10-18 and had less yards. It was a GREAT performance and I started a nostalgia thread about it a few years ago I have such fond memories of that game, but it is not in the same league as what KB did against Miami in an ACC championship game. A 6-5 UNC team vs a top 5 Miami in a hardware game? That's loopy.

It looks like people are trying to rewrite history because they are gearing up for a 2018 depth chart argument.

Taj v. Ohio State in the 2014 Orange Bowl is in there somewhere. 378 yds 5ds passing 2 ints, 127 yds rush and td.

Boyd has to be somewhere in recent list before KB. OSU game was pretty good.

Homer against Maryland earlier that season was even better - 270 yards passing for 3 TDs in the first half and another 70 rushing. Not too shabby for an option attack.

7. Coasted through preparation for a Bama team that 'hadn't earned the right to be in the CFP'. (Not KB's statement)

E ... "all-time" is a long time ... I remember that game

mostly about the Clemson D and them taking the "Turnover Chain" from Miami.

While the Defense was amazing and doesn't deserve a backseat to anyone during that game, the biggest story of the game was actually not them. See the article for yourself.

I thought the OP was asking for opinions.

My bad.

I didn't mean it like that. I thought you said the biggest

story coming out of that game was the defense.

Looks like I misread your comment.

I didn't send a link as proof of a "correct" answer. I sent it for the reason above.

But, speaking of disagreement with your answer, I don't believe you could come up with 15 better QB performances.

So in your world, throwing 15/15 in passing is not as good as defense?

A.

I know the tigernet narrative is for Trevor Lawrence to take over for KB, but give the guy his just due. He played a fantastic game in the ACCCG.

Top 3 QB performances EVER??

Yikes, scorching hot take right there.

I could make a case for 5 DW games and another 2-3 Tajh Boyd games being on the same level, and that's just from the last 2 starting QBs....

Go ahead and make that argument then.***

Ok....

1. DW vs Bama pt 2, 2016 Natty Champ
2. DW vs Bama pt 1, 2015 Natty Champ
3. Tajh Boyd vs LSU, 2012 Peach Bowl
4. DW vs SC, 2016
5. Tajh Boyd vs UGA, 2013

I would consider those the top 5 QB performances since 2011. Next group of 5 would include

Tajh vs OSU, 2014
DW vs FSU, 2016
DW vs UNC, 2015
Kelly B vs Miami
DW vs UNC, 2014

Didn't realize Tajh Boyd was on our team in 2016 or that we played UGA in 2016.

DW4 vs coots 2014...

Has to be top 5 all time

link

No doubt Top 10. Miami's defense was elite and that game

Posted: Jun 25, 2018, 2:23 PM

decided which team goes to playoff. KB played nearly flawlessly.

No doubt Top 10 game of all time for a QB all things considered.

You could maybe argue Top 5, but that would be purely due to the "big stage" of that game.

It was a really good performance, but to say it's top 10 you

Posted: Jun 25, 2018, 2:28 PM

would have to weigh the circumstances really, really heavily, because if it were treated as just another game i doubt it would make the top 50. Deshaun alone had a lot of games better than that one. Tajh had numerous better games, Charlie had better games, Woody had better games, etc.

Bryant proved it once more against the Hurricanes (10-2, No. 7 CFP). He set a championship game record by completing his first 15 passes -- topping the mark held by teammate you know who from two years ago -- and putting the Tigers ahead 14-0 on his twisting, 11-yard TD run in the opening quarter.

Name the game that either three went 15 for 15 ?

link

Is that the only criteria for a good game now? Completing

15 straight passes?

I can think of 2, maybe 3 games where DW4 was the starter that rank below KB's best performance. Sorry but it's the truth. Not one game this past season did I ever think, "KB is the man, he is going to put the game away for us". Every single game DW4 was quarterback I thought that. every.single.game. Even the pitt game. Just goes to show you how clutch DW4 was. I always knew there was a chance for him to do something special. KB was serviceable last season at best. And by serviceable I mean that our running game or defense took that spotlight that DW4 had the previous 2.5 seasons.

was a runaway. There was a lot of QB production and ridiculous accuracy that night - could be top 3 from a rating standpoint.

Honestly I don't think it's in the top 10-15 at all. I would even put Stoudt vs Oklahoma higher although I do think he did well claiming a 250 yard performance vs Miami as top 5-10 all time performance for a Clemson QB in a game would be disrespectful almost to some of the performances we've had.
