Very nice facility. Hopefully this will make a difference with the recruits.

one of the big doors :)

But really, the offensive and defensive drills is what I miss... the year we did that was the most fun I had at the Ladies Clinic. Other than it being 100 degrees - which is why it never happened again. But now that shouldn't be a problem!

well cool then, I hope you get your wish

Jan 26, 2013, 6:19 PM

I have never heard of this Ladies Clinic

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

really? It's every July.... usually about 1000 women

Jan 26, 2013, 6:20 PM

learning about Clemson football, getting a behind-the-scenes look at facilites & chatting with the coaches all day.

It's AWESOME! :D

That is awesome, what a great idea

Jan 26, 2013, 6:26 PM

Sadly, I no longer live in the area . might be why I had not heard of it.

watching the video of the inside practice facility. I'm sure that will be part of the clinic this year. I can't wait! It is always so much fun!

I have been to all but 2 of them. They are great!!! So much

Jan 26, 2013, 7:56 PM

fun. It has changed alot since the first years in Jervy Gym, attendance was about 300-500 those first few years. The bigger crowds are great for Clemson football, but with it, the "groups" have gotten larger and you lose a little bit of the intimacy of the early years. But, still, a great day & tons of fun!

I would like to see them split groups into something like "Football 101" "Football 102", etc.... I'd like to learn more specifics on plays than they go into in the little time we have. It would be nice to be able to sign up for a more advanced class - when you go so many years in a row, you kind of hear the same "football" info.

You been in it? The ceiling is very very very high. You have to be in it to truly realize how big it is.

Re: not to sure there is going to be a lot of punting and

That ceiling looks to be about 75 ft tall. Take a look at the doors, they look to be about 5 yards by 4 yards tall. Looks like the ceiling is about 6 doors tall, or 75 feet. The average punt in the NFL is 4.6 (couldn't find college). That would be about 85 feet of kick height. Sounds like they cut it close assuming the kicker can put it right down the center every time.....Gonna be a lot of kickers shooting for the rafters. So unless they wanted pigeons goal tending the football, they should have made it just a little higher.

So the question is, have you ever been a football punted in the air? It goes very very high. You have to have been one to truly realize how high it goes.

(sponsored by the "glass half empty and someone must have spilled the other half" crowd)

Anyway. Looks nice to me.

Wife and oldest daughter plan on attending the event in July. Lady next to us in the stands told my wife she HAD to go, plus it's a charity fund raiser for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Seems to be a fantastic opportunity for all involved.

I am sure I am ignant, and it is a great looking facility

Jan 26, 2013, 6:24 PM

but college football is, for the most part, played outdoors so should it not be practiced outdoors as well.

I know that those lightning strikes coming off Lake Hartwell can be a disruption but is this facility really worth the $$$.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

we practiced 4 times before the bowl game in there.

Jan 26, 2013, 6:27 PM

was the bowl game played outside?

:D

and also, Dabo said they usually lose 15 practices

You are "ignant". This facility is crucial to what we want to accomplish. Along with any other facilities we may build. Your views of sports are from the 60s. It is a new world of college sports. You either get "all in" or shut the doors.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My view of football in the 60's was through a helmet

Jan 26, 2013, 11:14 PM

ever had that view ?

The team loses practice time each summer due to weather. It

will help attract recruits and provide more options in terms of how and where the team practices.

They'll have to buy Windex by the tank truck.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm guessing that the peak of the rafters is ~90 feet...

Jan 27, 2013, 9:22 AM

...any other thoughts?

Dabo said that he thought Pinion could hit the lights, but the lights are not in the center of the peak.

Dabo felt that they could punt and simulate special teams scenarios.
