Arch Manning? With Dabo offering a second QB in 2023 class

Jan 11, 2022, 8:53 PM

Does that mean we are out of the running for Arch Manning?

If Cade is the player people think he is, why would Manning come to Clemson?

Dabo has only offered one QB per year for many years now, telling them they were only offering one. For 2023 he has offered two for some reason. This has nothing to do with Cade and his ability.

Not the offering of two QB's, but the combined implication is that Arch isn't coming to Clemson.

Probably tired of being one injury away from having to play walk ins at QB.

I never thought we had a chance with Manning. Too many SEC ties in the family.

Adding depth at the QB position.

Most years Dabo is only taking one QB in a class. It's likely he's taking two this year. Makes sense to offer twice as many.

If Cade is that good why would we care.

I think gone are the days

Jan 11, 2022, 9:32 PM

Of recruiting a player, having them commit, and then closing up shop. IMG burned us and now that WR commit we have is flirting with Miami. I’m glad he offered another qb and I hope he offers 2-3 more. And if Manning wants to commit, great. We need 2 qbs in this class anyway.

ding ding ding- been saying this for a while. There is no longer commitment from the kids, they are kids. We need to start protecting Clemson. Dpn't have to be like the other schools but need to keep recruiting even when the slots are filled. Once we hear someone is looking elsewhere go to the next kid up and fill the slot.

He should offer another WR too, and if they commit let the soft commit go on to Miami. It’s a tough business. The Miami kid is saying I’m not completely committed to Clemson.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Bingo

Jan 12, 2022, 12:55 AM

It’s a 2 way street. If you want us to stop recruiting your position, then let’s have a convo. It means you don’t take calls or visits from other schools. You tell your parents and hs coach not to talk to other schools. You’re fully committed. You don’t hire an agent until you sign. If you’re willing to do that then why would we keep recruiting other guys at your spot? But if you want to take calls and visit places with teammates or sign an agent and take NIL bids then why would we stop recruiting other guys? It’s nothing personal, it’s just fair.

We can’t afford manning. He will go for a lot of money….***

Dabo should had hired Cutcliffe as an analyst and to help with quarterbacks for a few years then I would like our chances.

I think we took two in 2017 with Hunter Johnson and Chase Brice and two in 2015 maybe? This would not be out of the ordinary for us.

Cade will be here for at least 2 years during arch career....if we land Arch...then he as a fr and Cade as a soph would compete for job...whoever lost would transfer.

However...Arch is starting day one...I doubt at Clemson

Not sure coach Cut played for Bama or Clemson

Jan 12, 2022, 12:56 AM [ in reply to Re: Arch Manning? With Dabo offering a second QB in 2023 class ]

So why would he have been considered?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Not sure coach Cut played for Bama or Clemson

Jan 12, 2022, 8:50 AM

Well it wouldn’t be any huge our long time position. Streeter being OC he could use some help at QB, and everyone already says he’s had trouble developing his guys anyways. Veteran guy like Cutclife who also just happens to have Manning ties, why not?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I was just kidding

Jan 12, 2022, 9:27 AM

I love coach Cut and think it’d be a great hire… one I’m sure Dabo considered. Will be interesting to see if he lands anywhere.

Not too late to bring in some outside analysts or position support personnel with a fresh perspective to add to the mix. Variety is the spice of life.

Weslichick, David Cutcliffe went to University of Alabama; he grew up in Birmingham.

Cutcliffe did not play football for the Tide, however.

Looking forward to your next not-so-funny comments.

Yes, we are in the running w Arch.

Arch, Cade and any other five star QB will not make a decision based on the competition in front of them.

Still in the running, he can get national NIL money because of his name, he should be able to recruit players to come to Clemson (Cade hasn't so far), a win win if he chooses Clemson.

If you watch film on both, it's easy to see that Cade has 1st round potential while Arch has #1 overall pick potential. This isn't a knock on Cade. After watching Jacksonville this year, I don't want any of our QBs to go #1 overall. Deshaun went to a much better situation in Houston. He was drafted by a team with actual talent. Trevor is stuck with a franchise that is devoid of talent, no head coach, and isn't a big market to attract free agents. Sad times.
