WR Core

Mar 31, 2021, 11:01 AM

Is this years WR one of the best we have had in terms of talent? Ladson, Ngata, EJ, Collins Towers, and Justyn. All highly rated coming out of high school and all over 6'1 6'2. I think Tee, Amari, Hunter and Justyn was a good group in 2018-19 especially with the versatility and speed. The slot this year will be interesting to see especially with talks of Justyn playing inside but I think this group has a chance to be one of the best groups we have had bearing we avoid injuries and can protect DJ long enough with the young O-Line

Hard to beat that 2011 team...

DeAndre Hopkins
Sammy Watkins
Adam Humphries
Martavis Bryant
Jaron Brown
Charone Peake

Seems like some of those may have gone on to make a career of it . . .***

Good point, especially since we were slinging the ball like crazy that year. 2011 definitely a hard year to beat

Yeah you can't beat that group.
Even is you looked at all power 5 team that group of wide outs would be in the top 3.

The 2011 WR group can only be bested by the 2012 WR group.

All of the names you listed are the same but a year older.

We also added Germone Hopper in 2012 who was much more talented than his consistency would allow him to show.

Hopper wasn't exactly a headliner of the group but his addition just makes the group a little harder to beat.

2011 was pretty stout. Everyone of them could have played in the NFL at same time for multiple seasons if Bryant could have managed personal life in accordance to NFL. All of them were playing in NFL last year except Bryant and I think Peake was on the practice squad all season. All played the previous year except Bryant, so interestingly they didnt just make a team but all have had longevity in the NFL. That is not an easy task.

Should have read before responding. You had it covered.

Not sure about the WR Core, but I like our WR Corps

I'm sure they do a lot of sit ups and crunches to strengthen their core.

Hey, at least he didn’t call it the “wide receiver room”...

I actually found it quite refreshing.

We definitely have that dreaded "potential" word with this

Mar 31, 2021, 5:49 PM

group. But, prior to all the injuries and loss of Ross, last year looked great on paper as well. We must avoid the injury bug, and have these guys begin to realize all that potential, to have another great team year.

Hard to say that when the core of this group has shown as much likelihood of standing on the sidelines in street clothes as lining up and making big plays.

No.

I saw a pic one time of the bench of Clemson's 2011 WR's. It had Nuk Hopkins, Sammy Watkins, Adam Humprhies, Martavis Bryant, Jaron Brown, and Charone Peake all on that same bench. (I was hunting for that pic on google for a few minutes and couldn't find it, which was a shame.)

This class has potential, for sure, but it's got a mile to go before it's that. How many bazillion dollars has that crew made in the NFL now? That might have been just about the single best future-NFL-bench in college history, actually.
