Not Scared. Not Sorry.

Dec 29, 2019, 8:04 PM

Our old Defensive Coordinator over at Auburn figured something out about the LSU offense. The Bayou Bengals won and Burrow had 321 yards and an INT.

But the score - 23 - 20.

This was at the end of October!(26)

BV is > K. Steele!

Unlike Auburn - we will have extra time to prepare for Burrow! It didn't help Oklahoma I can hear some hater saying. Yeah, but Oklahoma hasn't exactly lit it up defensively now have they. They were better this year; but had started reverting to old habits late in the season. Oklahoma's offense had become as Mike Gundy called it: "The Wishbone"!

For some reason QB run was all Lincoln Riley felt comfortable calling late. Easy to defend when you know it's coming.
Oklahoma had 3 guys suspended to start the game. Their 2nd leading tackler got flagged for targeting in the 1st qtr and left the game as well. Who could do well with that many players missing on their team? Next guy up at Oklahoma is not the same as it is at say Alabama.

I love what BV said in his comments regarding LSU. Real athletes and competitors do no run from a challenge. This isn't life or death stuff - this is a football game! We can give it our best and live with the results with the best of them!

https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/gametracker/recap/NCAAF_20191026_AUBURN@LSU/

LSU has looked unstoppable - but I ask anyone reading this to answer the following:

If Joseph Brady were in the NFL and his offense "unstoppable" why isn't he still there?

Why don't the Saints just win every game and score 52 points a game in the NFL?

No. Not all of Clemson's defensive players are NFL bound. But, they can all be on the same page and approach this like the biggest challenge of their football lives.

**In short - the kryptonite is out there and we have the best DC in the business! We have some nice talent to compliment BV as well.
Offense will have to be on point. I don't care what folks are saying about LSU's defense now - they stunk for a bunch of games and it wasn't because they had bad players. They have good players - but some other things changed. Also, if they jump out on them, who on their schedule besides Alabama had enough offense to keep doing what they do. Nobody - everybody else likely became one dimensional! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Brady_(American_football_coach)

You shouldn’t be afraid. You are the defending natty champs.

However the Auburn score can be deceptive. A costly pot return fumble on the 10 cost us the score. Without that we would’ve won 30 to 13. Not so close.

That's a "what if". Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. The score was 23-20 because Auburn made the play that was there to be made. I am sure the rest of the offensive possessions where you could have made up for the 1 play you are talking about "don't matter"? It does. And, they did what they had to to slow you down.

Vanderbilt is - 127th in points per game - they scored 38 on you.
Texas A&M is - 72nd and was mostly due to early games.
Georgia is - 62nd in ppg.
*Oklahoma is - 7th *how many players were missing? not including #44 being ejected for targeting.

Have you played well or played the right opponents? At the right time? Texas defense is porous. Texas is what 6-6. They almost beat you b/c their defense slowed you down enough plus their offense scored enough.

None of that Guarantees anything. Just saying

I'm just saying. It might not make a bit of difference and you guys come away victorious. But, "it looks funny"!
