Not as nervous about the trip to South Bend…

Sep 3, 2022, 10:35 PM

…as I was two hours ago before I started watching the Irish.

And even before seeing the Tigers, I’m liking the Tigers chances in a Buckeye matchup.

Are we really seeing the #2 team in the country?***

Please… can we see our offense make a few first downs. I’ll be concerned until I see that.

We have much to sort out before we can make good assessments about how good we are, but other teams, even some who eked out a win today, need to evaluate themselves, too. Lots of time left in this season to either crumble or show up.

Agreed. The offense and DJ have to show me something for me to feel comfortable.

I think you are seeing a good ND team playing a good OSU team. I think OSU is better than they have played tonight though.

Maybe we should try and score more than 14 on Georgia Tech first

Sep 3, 2022, 11:11 PM

Then see if we can play with the big boys. Georgia Tech's D was one of the worse in the country last year and we barely squeak out two TDs. I'm hoping Monday we will blow up the scoreboard. But until I see it, I'm not going to worry about Notre Dame or OSU.

Not so fast

Sep 3, 2022, 11:24 PM

We have proven nothing in 2022. Our offense has a multitude of question marks.

Notre Dame's defense impressed me. They played two-deep a lot to stop big plays over top. The problem is they ran out of gas because their offense only got 12 first downs and ran 40 total plays.

CJ Stroud was nearly perfect. His decision-making and field vision were great. Without him, Notre Dame could have won.

I'm definitely NOT less nervous.

Stroud was perfect? I would categorize that as one of the worst games I have seen him play. Maybe not just him - the whole team was so out of sync- especially in the first half. Stroud played better in the second half and had some great throws. ND played tough. Give them credit. I think Ohio State was feeling all good about themselves, believed the hype, and got punched in the mouth.

Stroud took everything the defense gave them

Sep 4, 2022, 1:36 PM

He missed one throw the entire game. He was calm and found the open man (when someone was actually open). His pocket presence was spectacular!

ND played two-deep nearly every play. Without his best receiver, Stroud maximized what was out there.

I'll say it again: If Stroud wasn't near-perfect, ND would have won. Eventually ND's defense became gassed because their offense only got 11 1st downs.
