Just sitting here and thinking about freedom .

Jul 4, 2022, 9:57 AM

If I die today, I have lived in the most glorious years in the history of mankind. Comforts never experienced before- air conditioned homes and cars with plenty of power and cheap gas. No wars that destroyed any parts of our country as it has elsewhere in the world. But I fear that we have become a spoiled and falsely entitled population and have many concerns about the future of our children and grandchildren with world leaders like Putin and unnamed others (not to start a political argument on our day to celebrate freedom). Enjoy your day but never forget what it took to get this country to its highest point.

Clover,

My son is a pilot with 13 tours in the Middle East. I won't say what kind of plane or squadron he is in. The good ones are leaving IN DROVES ..... some only two years from retirement and walking away. It is that bad. The Woke, homesexual and BLM agenda is rammed into their brains EVERY day. There is a massive brainwashing attempt (and is happening) by the military to get all its members to accept those agendas. Some are refusing to be indoctrinated and are leaving. Over 20 of the very best has left his base and gotten out. The same tactics used by Hitler to brainwash his people is the same method our military is doing as well.

Did you see the Gay Pride uniform patches the Air Force had made? Have you seen the letter the Seretary of the Air Force, Frank Kendall, sent to everyone? "Today, we continue working towards an improved version of the Founders' ideal of equality". How about that? They now want to erase what our Founding Fathers believed in and 'improve' those ideals. This country will never recover from the damage by the liberals.

When the major fighting tool they have is poor kids from the south and Midwest a mass exodus is bound to happen with all the agenda crap.

Freedom is good. I’d prefer that we all spend a little less time telling others how to live, what to say and what to think. We have a great many things in this country that other countries do not have. I believe that the single greatest strength of this country is our diversity. Whatever color, creed or religion…….we have it. We are the GREAT ALLOY of Nations. England doesn’t have it. Russia doesn’t have it. China doesn’t have it. Germany doesn’t have it. Only the United States of America has it. A country that was founded by telling the most powerful man/empire in the world to pound sand, needs to do a better job of learning the lessons that it taught the world. Freedom is good.

Most do not realize is the USA has the World's oldest government.

What our Founding Fathers put together has stood as a reference point for all other countries including the country we won our freedom from.

Don't mean to rain on your parade but you need to know that your own government is now actively trying to erase your Founding Fathers' ideals that the U.S. is founded on and replace it with the Woke and liberal beliefs. They are pushing folks out of the military that will not accept it and indoctrinate the younger ones like Hitler did. Look to the past but you are going to lose it.

Freedom aint free. The USA has been in a battle with evil since day one.
Lets celebrate what we have today, and be optimistic that in the future Patriots will always win the day.

Will they?? Look what is happening in Sodom (Washington D.C.). They are investigating the January thing and trying to prevent Trump from running again. Those patriots are branded 'Insurrectionists' and are being sent to prison.

Re: not about me -- it is about "us

Jul 4, 2022, 2:14 PM

Sorry, but I am as conservative as the next guy but don’t agree with action that damaged the Capitol and also feel that Trump running again will not do anything more than further divide the country and if he loses again due to that division the opposition will control for another 4 years- a less controversial candidate might stand a much higher chance of winning- but I didn’t want this thread to go this direction & am actually adding fuel to the fire.

Re: Just sitting here and thinking about freedom .

Jul 5, 2022, 9:23 PM [ in reply to Re: Just sitting here and thinking about freedom . ]

One key element that has helped our nation stay so strong and sturdy over all this time is limiting the amount of time any one person has the reins at the top. Power corrupts, and the longer people stay in power the worse the whole mechanism starts to get. Now if we could only apply those time constraints on Congress and bureaucrats we might be able to function a little more for US and a little less for those anchored in place.

Today I pulled up the copies of my Grandfather's (with 6 Greats in front) pension papers from prior to and during the Revolutionary War. He was born in Pennsylvania 1749 but moved to Union District in SC when he was a child and per his pension papers it was documented in the family Bible. He fought Indians near Keowee in Georgia and over the mountains before the war with Great Britain. He was a horseman, foot soldier and a scout during and between battles in the Revolutionary War from Cowpens to Charleston. He was drafted at times and volunteered at times. Everytime I read his papers, I realize what our forefathers sacrificed for us to have what we have today. BTW, he was awarded a pension when he was about 84 years old.

Re: Just sitting here and thinking about freedom .

Jul 4, 2022, 9:40 PM

I thought about the 80+ back then too but he made it 93 years. Congress passed the pension act for the Revolutionary War in 1832 and the ones that were alive and qualified were paid back to 1831. His pension was $60 a year in SC currency. He was born Feb 4, 1749 and died June 16, 1842 per the SC Archives.

Here, Here Clover65!!! I'll be 70 in November, and ONE of the better improvement over the course of my life is IMO, is that I can buy a new vehicle, add as much full coverage warranty as I want to add, and drive it for 8, 9, 10 years and never have to pay a dime for anything that goes wrong with it, other than the tires, battery, and changing the oil and filters. In the 70's/80's, vehicles didn't have but a 30 to 50K warranty coverage, and that was mostly just on the drive train, and electrical like power windows/door locks, and the A/C was only had a 12k warranty coverage, and I had to trade them in for a new one to keep a vehicle with a warranty to pay when ever something broke, and I'm hard on a vehicle!!!!

I remember those really short warranties

Jul 5, 2022, 3:08 PM

My 2nd Corvette had a 12,000 miler & SOMEHOW the cable from the wheels to the odometer got unscrewed so the miles wouldn’t register. Lucky for me I had somehow memorized the speeds that matched the levels on the tachometer so I wouldn’t get tickets- got the whole amount of months of the warranty before the cable reattached itself

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I remember those really short warranties

Jul 5, 2022, 9:13 PM

Actually that cable connect to a gear at the tail shaft of the transmission, and everybody use to disconnect them until they start putting a seal on them. If you tried to unscrew them, it would break the seal, and that would in most cases void the warranty!!!
