Not a frequent poster..

Nov 26, 2022, 4:01 PM

Usually just sit back and read what fellow tigers have to say. That being said..

For the last 2 years I’ve been a staunch supporter of DJU. Given him the benefit of the doubt. Credited his poor play to a lackluster supporting cast and bad coaching.

While the supporting cast and coaching stay true, I can no longer turn a blind eye to DJU’s performance.

I’ve given Dabo the benefit of the doubt. Saying that he knows what he’s doing, he’s the same coach who took Clemson to extraordinary heights. But his reluctance to adapt to CFBs changing landscape is putting Clemson on a path to mediocrity again.

All that being said. I’ve been a Clemson fan from the time my parents took me to my first game nearly 20 years ago. I’ll remain a Clemson fan until I die, but I’d be lying to say I’m not discouraged by the lack of passion and complacency the Clemson coaching staff has taken.

Go Tigers. Beat UNC.

Of course Dabo knows what he’s doing.

It’s just that being loyal to DJ is more important to him than winning. No matter how bad DJ is.
It’s cool that he can teach these young men these life lessons.
With our money.

He has to stick with DJU because Cade is too frail and is not close!

I would say that being loyal to his staff has blinded him. He basically said that he did not even consider anyone else for the coordinator positions. I would have been ok if he had vetted other candidates and decided on Streeter and Goodwin. However, when you decide that finding the best coaches for these young men is not as important as doing things your way, and when you decide that you are good enough to overcome the shortcomings of other members of the staff, you do these young men a disservice.

I join you in your furstrations.

There is no way anyone could have convinced me the passing game could be this bad.

Poor throws by DJ. Throwing into coverage, missing open receivers throwing passes so bad I couldn't tell who he was trying to throw to.

Dropped passes by receivers, over and over again. Receivers running into each other on pass routes.

I'm not placing all the blame on DJ. But, if he had 6 pro bowl receivers today he still would have had a bad game.

I don't really blame the other coaches. It's was Dabo's decision to stick with a sub par QB for this long. Nick Saban never would have given DJ this much rope. You saw what Saban did in the 2017 Championship game. He benched Jalen Hurts for having a bad quarter. DJ has had bad quarters, bad halves, and like today many bad games.

What say you?

I agree but that goes back to Dabo not adapting to the new world of CFB.

Dabo didn’t make the move to Cade bc he didn’t feel like he was ready, and he may not have been. But if you’re reluctant to go to the freshman what do you do? Find a viable option in the portal. SCar turned their program bc of an influx of talent thru the portal.

These kids in the portal would love to transfer into Clemson and I’m sure there’s a lot of talent out there who could have boosted this team. So why is that not an option Clemson looks at? Only conclusion is a stubbornness to accept that CFB isn’t the same as it was when he took over, over a decade ago.

He did go to the portal though

I say give the kid a break and even though I acknowledge his limitations against non-ACC competition, he has more class than mist of the Clemson fan base.

I completely agree. DJU has stood strong in the face of criticism for 2 years. One of the biggest reasons I’ve stood behind him. But you can be an outstanding man of character and not a good football player. The 2 don’t have to be exclusive.

Dabo effectively "took DJs side" earlier this season with his comments. After that it was hard for him to bench him. Poor decision all the way around.
