Never thought I'd get into college softball, but

this Clemson team, with all their talent and personality, has really pulled me into it. I spent most of the weekend either watching or just keeping up online with the games. And there were some really great games!

Looking forward to seeing our ladies back at it Thursday night and hoping for another great series. Looks like they're peaking at the right time!

GO TIGERS!

Hopefully but they have a really tough test away from home. I’d feel much better about it if we were at home again.

What’s your thoughts going forward?

I don't know much about OSU softball, but we dominated our regional. It looks like we're peaking at the right time - hitting, fielding, pitching, everything. Millie is a beast in the circle and takes some pressure off of Val so she can relax a bit and not feel like every game is on her shoulders. It's been really fun to see how everyone has contributed at some point. Sam Russ is scary good on the bases. Logoleo is a home run waiting to happen at any moment.

We definitely have the talent to beat OSU. I'm feeling pretty good about our chances.

They have a LOT more personality and fun out there, which makes them a lot more fun to watch. I can watch the guys spit sunflower seeds and whatever else in their dugout, or watch the ladies dance and cheer in their dugout. The latter is more fun!

Nope. I've never picked on them for celebrating their lady c*cks. Thankfully for us, we have a lot more athletic successes than just softball, but I'm not ashamed to support our ladies. I wish our women's bskb was competitive. It's gotta be tough for both men's and women's bskb living in the shadow of all of the other successful teams on campus.

That’s an easy one. We are successful at more than just one sport, unlike our feathered friends to the south.

It's great that our fans are warming up to Softball as its a great sport. Its unfortunate they have not learned how to respectfully refer to the players.

Just to be sure, what do YOU determine to be the "proper" name for the female student athletes that play softball at Clemson? Certainly wouldn't want to hurt a sensitive Tigernetter feeling by using a disrespectful reference. I'm sure you were there with us in the stadium for almost 30 minutes after the game yesterday showing respect for their championship, right?

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

I was at the game on Saturday but did not have tickets to yesterday’s game. It was hot as crap on Saturday but was worth it given the excitement of the game especially when Auburn loaded the bases but Valerie got out of the jam.

As far as as deciding how to address a player on a women’s team, it’s not my decision. There are plenty of articles online which goes into great detail and depth. I would also point to press releases from the team, tweets and the articles here on t-net where they never refer to the players as girls or ladies or Lady Tigers (redundant given no Lord Tiger softball team). Finally I would refer you to how we address men’s teams at Clemson. It’s never Lord Tiger football players or Gentlemen’s baseball players. Both teams get respect as they are simply Tigers or players or student athletes.

My question to you is why do so many insist on referring to our team and players in a disrespectful way given the team’s own communication and correspondence do not reflect the names some in here insist on using?

You finally said something that makes sense …”As far as as deciding how to address a player on a women’s team, it’s not my decision. “. So based on that please just shut the h3ll up and quit responding to completely respectful posts with your nonsense.

Or you could put me on ignore but some just want to be upset. BTW if the posts were respectful you would never hear from me

Just wanted to stop by and congratulate you folks on the success of the Clemson Softball team blazing through their regional. Like you guys with the Clemson team, the VT team has attracted a lot of new fans this year, and while our trip through our regional wasn't as stress free as yours, the results are the same as both of us move on to represent in the Supers.

And even though we might be competitors, it isn't hard to recognize that Valerie Cagle is at the top of any POY list there is next year in the ACC. One person wrecking crew that young lady is when it comes to softball. An athlete Clemson can be very proud of, IMO.

Now, let's both go get them in the Super regionals and meet again in the WS.

Not sure you will see many more getaway from this coach at VT now. VT has invested quite a bit into the softball facilities and he seems to have the recruiting thing going pretty well.

Cagle, though, is just a stud. Add her in the rotation to Lemle and Rochard and VT would just about be untouchable.

Ah, to dream... Seriously, Good luck to you guys this weekend.

Their star pitcher, Jordy Bahl, is hurt and questionable for the supers this coming weekend. Not sure what is wrong, but just saw that headline.

Other than getting derailed by injury, though, they look to be the gold standard this year, for sure. But, that is why they play the games. Nothing is written in stone, and all of the teams left can probably get hot and make a run. But yeah, I'd have to favor OU based on their season.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Short answer is “No”

OU is the best team in the nation and it isn’t close. Yep they might lose 1 but I see no way that someone (or 2 teams) can beat them twice. They have great pitching and they are truly elite at the plate. My opinion but this is OUs world and we are just living in it right now. Next year is a completely different story though.

Never thought I would get into it either, but it is definitely fun to watch. The players give it their all every play. The action is fast paced. The games don't drag on for 4 hours. The passion of the fanbases rival college football.

In fact, with all of the craziness in college football, I would assume it's popularity will be on the decline over the next few years. The increasing popularity of softball is perfect timing for the sport.

Let me toot my own horn, I said from the jump we we're gonna be good. Having coached softball for 10+ plus years it's very hard for me to watch baseball. I watch every softball game I can. Ok is in a different world right now but anything could happen, look at FSU, really thought they would make a deep run. Our Ladies can absolutely win this weekend. Can't wait.
