Is Breeland's targeting call ...

Nov 8, 2013, 8:07 AM

the weakest one so far this college football season? Jameis acted like he didnt' even feel it.

I saw Baylor DB almost kill an Oklahoma WR last night. Targeting call was overturned.

The hit by the Baylor DB was a good clean football hit IMO

and should not have been flagged.

Apparently the NCAA is not going to be happy until defenders start going after the knees and legs of ball carriers.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

No it really wasn't. Clearly a cheap hit

The ball was obviously overthrown and the DB's head was up so he had to have seen that. He then took at least 2-3 steps and slammed the WR for no reason. That's the definition of hitting a defenseless player. I could understand if it was a bang bang play but it wasn't.

He meant the targeting, not the PF you're talking about.***

he was not defenseless. The WR had time to react and he actually did react. The DB just made a good clean hard hit...

I was angry when I saw that hit. What in the world is the baylor DB supposed to do? let they guy run by him so he does not touch him at all? The WR lowered his head to into the DB and the DB lead with his shoulder. so it is the DB's responsibility to get lower than the receiver at all times? Stupid rule if that is going to be called targeting from here on out.

The receiver caught and possessed the ball....

the WR then lowered his head into the DB and the DB lead with his shoulder. In fact, the ball dislodged after the receiver hit the turf.

there have been enough examples that anytime you hit hard and get a crowd reaction you run the risk of getting the call. rule needs work to overturn it and not wave off the penalty is silly. that should be an option too

I'd vote for this one...

The ref had his flag out before that hit

Nov 8, 2013, 8:55 AM

I'd say Breeland was pretty much a textbook example. He launched himself and lowered his head. Its not based on the "amount" of contact.

Refs were determined to force us to play soft with BS calls***

Had Travis Blanks been tossed

For that hit on the UVA receiver, that would easily be the worst. Used his shoulder, hit him in the back, totally clean. He shouldn't have even gotten a personal foul for it
