Amen to that. The brainless nits who attack each week must be sad that he suddenly remembered how be a great coach and OC that helped us win 2 natties. Amazing how smart he is when the team executes the plays correctly.

Ha ha PioneerG ... clever parody post!
Of course, only the true fools would still be calling for T.Elliott's head!
As Mark Twain said, it is easier to fool someone than to convince them that they are a fool.

Nope. He still is not good and was not good play caller before this year. Trevor and Travis bailed him out.
Wake can make any OC look good.
That being said, I thought Tony called one of his best games as an OC quite frankly especially given what he had to work with. I think we saw only one WR screen and he stuck with what was working.
I would not be so hard on him if the offense had been performing in let’s say the top 70. To perform, where we have this year, that is coaching. Good OC’s would have found a way to get this offense into that realm regardless of the issues and injuries.
That is not to say he cannot go back and adapt this offensive scheme a little and get better as a game planner. Just limiting the WR screen call would help.
I don’t think he is going anywhere, but for the love of God Tony adjust and get better in the off-season please.

I agree, Elliot did a good job this week. That's this week and I am not sure how much credit to give to him. The first half still wasn't great, but we scored 31 in the second with 2 (TWO) passes. He finally took the mentality that if it's working keep doing it.
What I was encouraged by was that DJ pulled the ball more times on what appeared to be zone reads than he has all year, despite being on one leg. He is not fast or elusive, but appears to do a really good job of reading and setting up his blockers when he actually runs.
I have not been a part of the fire Tony crowd, but I do believe that he has done a lousy job this year. I get tired of hearing that he has not forgotten how to coach. Tom Osborne probably hasn't either, but I would not want him as OC and his offenses in the mid 90's were the best I have ever seen. The game changes. Our roster changes. In order for us to remain on top TE and our offense has to change. He has done that slowly this year and our offense has gotten progressively better despite injuries. I just hope that next year (provided he doesn't take a Head coaching job) that he makes the necessary changes a little quicker so that I am not hoping for BC and UNC wins, for us to back into the ACC championship.

Which calls in the first half weren’t good calls?

The two easy passes that DJ air mailed, or the long gain by Pace where he fumbled at the end?
Those calls?

Watched the same game I think…. I seriously did not see any outstanding play from our quarterback nor were there wonderful calls from Tony Elliot. Frankly the rest of the team stepped up and did everything they could with all their heart to win and it showed. If somebody told you that for the rest of our days we had to have a quarterback like DJ would you be as excited as you are now?!

All we did was run the ball really well and won third downs and everybody thinks Tony called his best game of the year. I counted 6 passes that were uncatchable that were not throw aways so still plenty of room for improvement but overall best performance of the year without our two best wide receivers. I like TE and hope the guys can execute his game plan Saturday so we win by 21 or more.

Don’t recall seeing where someone said Tony called in “un catchable passes”. He has however been know to call countless wt school even passes that are picked, almost picked or tackled for a loss though. There were a still couple yesterday. Just sayin.

Hello Clemson Mikey,
Uhhh, perhaps you missed the SPLINT ON DJ's INDEX FINGER yesterday.
Any guess about whether that impairs a QB's ability to spin the football?
Sure, DJ is not a Tom Brady-type-accurate passer yet, but his misses yesterday were unusual for him of late.
T.Elliott's play calling was darn near PERFECT; in preparing yesterday's game plan T.Elliott considered the strengths and weaknesses of Wake's Defense and the limitations and strengths of Clemson's offense. This is the type of play calling that reflects both knowledge of football and mental agility.
Sorry to be so tough on you ... we are all frustrated with remembrances of DJ's early season disastrous play when he whiffs on the should-be-easy-completion throws, so I feel your pain in that respect.

Glad we put a few things together yesterday on offense. A refreshing change. Great W. I would temper the euphoria a little considering Wake’s D was ranked 109 in total D out of 130. They weren’t exactly stopping anyone. Conversely, BV and our D just crushed Wake’s O that was ranked 7th. Great team win and I look forward to feasting on some fried chicken this week.

"Fire Tony E"( if we fail to score more than 17 points against the coots on the road. In 6 home games the chickens are 5 -1 and only giving up 14 points per game).

Interesting how much better the offense looks when there are a few caught balls, big plays and we can run it. Maybe it wasn't the OC after all?

Nice to win against a ranked opponent. With that said Weak Forest was dragged for 56 points by Army and 58 a week ago against UNC. If you lower the bar far enough our O line can crawl over it. The ACC is putrid as is usually the case. No complaints about a win but keep the opponent in context. We have a least 2 more to play and should get a taller mountain to climb for a bowl opponent. IMO Tony is not the best but it's not all on him considering enormous drop off at QB. Go Tigers and beat the Dirt Peckers. Be satisfied to be State Champs again all things considered.

If it had been Auburn or Florida, would you feel better?

Wake was 9-1 and ranked #10.
You can call them over-rated if it makes you feel better, but they are far better than several SEC programs such as Florida and Auburn.
