No 11th Commandment

Sep 24, 2021, 8:42 PM

Why is it that news reports, broadcasters and so many fans only focus on the bad? I guess misery loves company and negative nellies are just unhappy people. We have a make or break football game tomorrow and there are still posts questioning our coaches and second guessing before the game starts. If you are a true Clemson fan, you support us through thick and thin.

Reality is that in the after the free COVID year of eligibility and the world of the portal, there will be wins and losses all over the country that fans are disappointed with, thrilled with and probably more head scratches than ever. There are many teams that can win on any given day which means teams also lose. We have great coaches, great players, great facilities and great fans but we are not guaranteed to blow out teams and win every game because there are teams across the country that have all we have. There is no 11th Commandment that says Clemson will score 40 points and win every game.

You can support your school and still question bad decisions and performance. Being a blind follower is not the way to be either. Just curious. When do you begin to question the offense? Currently we have gained around 958 yards in 3 games. Over half that was against SC State. Hopefully we win tomorrow and the offense shows a pulse, but if they don't do you question the offense then? It is really easy to criticize other opinions without giving your own. How bad do we need to get before you question the offense.. go on the record and be specific. I am not trolling just curious. Convince me I am wrong for questioning the current offense.

I always question and second guess because that is human nature. I see nothing to gain by blaming referees or coaches any time we lose in football and basketball. We have had more or less 6 years of QB's that we may not be lucky to ever see again. Our QB is inexperienced and our offensive line is limited but calling a different play will not fix that. I am simply saying that our coaches have taken us to the Promised Land twice and should we not give them time to work to improve our team?

Fair enough and I agree, but you didn't answer my question. How bad is bad enough to cause YOU concern? Be specific. What does our win - loss record look like for you to question the coaches?

reminds me of the Mel Brooks movie History
of the World when Moses came down from
Mount Sinai with 3 tablets and told the
Israelites that Jehovah had given him 15
commandments for all to obey. Then he
drops one and it breaks and he says 10
commandments for all to obey.

Sure there is no 11th Commandment that says Clemson will score 40 points ,and win every game, but when you are preseason top 5,and you are opening your conference schedule at home against a 1-1 team that you have beaten the last 2 seasons by a combined 125-21,and you have to have a last minute defensive stand to win a game in which you were favored by more than 2 touchdowns , your offense can't seem to get out of it's own way ,you can't seem to run/pass block at times, your quarterback looks lost , your receivers run the wrong routes, or just stop , and where your offensive coordinator has your quarterback line-up in a freaking shot-gun formation in your own end zone, and then your Head Coach seems to be making excuses, or seems to have no sense of urgency (in my opinion) in fixing the problems then yea I think it is ok to question your coaches, especially with an upcoming road game against a team with a new game plan that if they stop you and and if lose you can kiss the CFP's goodbye, then yea, while you will continue to support your team through thick and thin, your not going to be a happy camper when your preseason top 5 team ends up in the Papa John Toilet Bowl or the Mienkie Car Crap Bowl.

Do you want the answer ?

Sep 25, 2021, 8:13 AM

Not sure if you do.

I'll try anyway.

Because "bad" is "story". It's the human condition. Overcoming conflict and facing adversity. Ever watch the news? a movie? A play? Read a novel? Experience life? Redemption? With no bad there's no hero. With no hero, there's no story. Nothing interesting to mine. Why does "story" surprise you? You have one. Everyone has one. It's what makes life interesting. Would you read a book that's just all about a perfect team or a perfectly good guy?

Sounds like Kim Jong-un. Control the media, no negative statements about the team.

Because we're "as in the days of Noah". The lovers of the darkness abound and they have been stacked into the media in order to spread the narrative. Notice I said stacked ... as in placed.
