NIL Booster Information

Jun 30, 2021, 6:11 PM

I would expect IPTAY to send out an email on what we can and cannot do. This whole thing looks like an enforcement nightmare. Has anyone received any information from IPTAY?

Basically, all the stuff you couldn't do before, you still can't do. Pretty much all NIL entails is sponsorships, mostly (which could be abused by boosters, for sure, but would be allowed if say a booster's company paid a player for a sponsor spot).

It's so easy to do it legally, why bother with illegal? Just

have a car dealership make commercials with the athlete.

"Hey, this is Jared Snodgrass from Alabama. If you want a great new or used car, just go to Dream Motors Group, they will treat you like a champion."

Dream Motors Group is partially owned by..... wait for it.....Nick Saban.

They can make as many commercials with different athletes as they want, and pay them whatever they want, the way I read it.

I agree that there will be she’ll businesses created. There is also a whole new career that just opened up. This is going to require a different type of sports agent. I was reading earlier this week that approximately 25% of the followers of the Kardashian’s are fake. That’s right. Their own staff oversee the creation of fake accounts. So there are going to be college athletes that have individuals dedicated to increasing their number of online followers. More followers equal more NIL money.

Quote:"Hey, this is Jared Snodgrass from Alabama.

You are not understanding the rules ..... the athlete can't say that. He can say, This is Jared Snodgrass ........ but not "from Alabama".
