Nick is a Clemson man. A great guy, I had the pleasure of meeting him several times when he was an upperclassmen.
He’s a perfect fit culturally and he was a good technician. He also played (and coached) in the NFL. He was undersized but still a solid DT.
I’m really pumped about this hire. I think he’ll be a better recruiter. He’s a genuine guy, not a sensitive baby that writes poems.

If he was undersized as a successful Dlineman in the NFL, he MUST know great technique. No way around it. I’m liking what I’m hearing.

Any of you guys remember that Nick Eason started out at Clemson as a D-End, but was moved to D-Tackle (not N.Eason's preference) and performed beautifully (and without coming out of the game often) in the D-Tackle role.
Not a huge guy, but quick and especially effort effort effort. From what I remember, he was also a fine student (which admittedly his smarts helped him to be a fine student).
As a coach pushing effort from his players, Nick Eason had LIVED IT and isn't just BS'ing about it.

Bates was fine early, but falling off on his recruiting more recently. I think Eason's time in the NFL as a coach and love for Clemson will resonate with recruits. More so than Todd's story.

It hasn't thus far. He's 35th recruiter in the SEC. His last dline in the NFL was dead last sacks. Auburn finished 40th. I'm failing to see how it is an upgrade.

You do realize he has only been at Auburn 1 year. Hardly a way you can judge his recruiting results yet. He is recruiting leader on many DL prospects for Auburn this year so I think he is an excellent choice. At least he has ties to many of the 2023 prospects we are desperate to sign. Will be an excellent opportunity for Clemson to regain momentum on the recruiting trail.

The Travis Shaw result seems to counter your claims of insanity. Eason WANTING to be at Clemson is more important to me than the fact he played at Clemson. and what I think is even more important still is Nick's time coaching in the NFL.

Still played in the league
Has coaching experience in the league. One of the best resumes on our young staff…
He’s a fit culturally. Yes. Important to Clemson, not important to me.
I’m sure he has a humble gratitude of how far Dabo has brought the program since he left.

Upgrade or not we want guys who want to be at clemson. Bates obviously doesn’t want to be here anymore so good riddance. Welcome Nick! So glad to have you back. Put your nfl and clemson experience to good use.

I wonder if a guy like Travis Shaw will look at a 6-7 tarhole team and look at Nick Eason and think about using the portal sooner rather than later.

Looks like Bates only landed 1 DL recruit in the last 2 cycles. Idk if that was by design, but i don't imagine it was.
Eason in his first and only year recruiting landed 2 4* and has 2 4* transfers coming. One from Oregon and a JuCo kid. Good for him getting his first recruiting class going.
In other news this '22 5* DL Peter Woods kid seems to be tweeting a lot about OU, Bates, and BV past day. Clemson was in the top 7. OU was not.

I think Bates was a great DT coach and the players all improved. No drop off after Brooks left. But I think Eason will do better for us. Played in the NFL and being a Clemson guy will help a lot. Remember most coaches recruit areas not position. Seems he really wants to be at Clemson and that is something kids will be drawn to. Plus I believe he will be able to coach up the players. I think it is a Great hire. So far I really like all the hires/changes. Still worried a little about Grisham but if Dabo has him there I am sure he will do good.
