Next year...what will happen next year in terms of becoming

a highly ranked team? For several years opposing fans and others have said the ACC and Clemson's schedule is so weak that it makes Clemson look better than they are. Even with two national championships the schedule was always questioned...typical of detractors. This season Clemson has fallen to become an also ran among a host of mediocre progams...not bad programs, but not national contenders either. Does it feed the negative opinion about both Clemson and the ACC? Even if we win out it looks like it will be a struggle to do so which will not help this years ranking very much.
How will this season and the ACC's reputation combine to effect Clemson in 2022 even if they right the ship next season?
Can we bounce back to be highly ranked in the 2022 preseason or will Clemson have to totally reprove the program and play its way back to the top?

demands respect, regardless of where the rest of the ACC is. He has gotten that respect by always scheduling a tough out of conference game against an upper tier SEC foe early in the season, usually wiinning those games, and by beating Top 4 ranked teams in the CFP. All that history is not going to be forgotten due to one down year.

last few games this year, we are unlikely to be ranked very high or at all prior to next season's beginning. In my opinion, we need a speed guy at WR / Slot and a change up scat back with real speed at running back and no injuries next year along o line.

Offseason conditioning will make a big difference on the injury front.

You are so right! Something changed last off-season. I have no idea what it was but something softened our team physically. Might have been Joey Batson's heart issues and surgery.......just don't know. But it is very obvious something changed!

depends on how we finish the year. If we win out and beat someone decent in the bowl game... we probably start next year 12-15th. If we finish 8-5 to 9-4, we probably start next season 18th or something based on recruiting and history. If we were to stumble and finish 7-6 or worse then we may start unranked and just have to claw our way back up there.

if you're undefeated...what does it matter.

the way we got in was we would be undefeated or had one blemish usually due to a heroic effort by another team or a key injury that another team took advantage. Plus we had all around studs on both sides of the ball and passed the eye test.
This year we've taken a step back and haven't been able to pull it all together. I really hope we don't try the same experiment next year but its possible. We'll still have a very good receiving corp and above average running back personnel next year. The key is QB leadership and play-calling. If those two get upgrades we're right back to where we were. If we stay the course we'll probably see some waning recruiting ranks for a couple of years b/c i'm not sure we'll be able to hit that undefeated mark.
If we go get a top notch offensive play caller that can get scores we'll be back in the thick of the CFP race. BC the talent wants to play at Clemson. But they don't want to play for an OC that may/may not get fired in a year or two. Thats why FSU waned at the end of Bobby's tenure. IT was the doubt of the coaching staff that created uncertainty. Hopefully we fix the problems before they get worse.

We have to get back to having a QB that can make the throws. Get quality Oline play better schemes on offense and play calling.

Oh excuse me...we will win the nationals next year no doubt whatsoever....should even discuss the possibility of anything else. Anything less makes someone a coot.
Well at least I'm not blind....

Preseason polls are irrelevant. It just gives the talking heads something to talk about. It is not how you start, but how you finish that counts. Go Tigers! Finish strong!
