Next O Line Coach

Sep 26, 2021, 7:34 PM

Colorado State is 1-3 and Steve Addazio is on the hot seat. If he becomes available he would be much better than another ex player as position coach. The O lines at Florida and BC were nasty when he was at both places and he was actually the OC for Urban one year at UF. His expertise with offensive lines and overall experience would be a big help to TE . He also is a pretty good recruiter for an old guy and still has good ties in the state of Florida

I think you could have a scenario where you have both Adazzio and Babers at Clemson.

If it’s going to be Austin I hope he’s listening carefully to the important life lessons Caldwell had to teach and is ignoring everything related to actually coaching and OL.

A guy like Addazio would shake things up. I think it has become a little complacent and clubby in our facility

that actually would be a hire that would excite me. Would be a great pick up. His teams were always sound tough teams.

The name is great, but guys on the downside of their careers - see Robbie Caldwell - do not tend to have that fire in their belly and I question their longevity unless they get comfie - again, see Robbie Caldwell. I would be a lot more in favor of Vance Vice from VT...or an NFL guy.

Of course right now the plan is Thomas Austin. He did pretty good with not much at Georgia State but I'm still kind of iffy on all these legacy hires. Every coach now on the offensive side of the ball is now a legacy hire and that tends to be self-sealing and self-affirming, you know?

I remember a time when whoever was our Oline coach people were clamoring for Robbie Caldwell. If I remember correctly Herb Hand was also a popular choice. Maybe we should change OL coaches every couple of years to stay current.

you don't have to worry about the fire in Addazio. That fire never goes out in that guy. Would be a great hire if we can get him

Good call. That would be a fantastic pickup. Brings innovation and experience.

Sam Pittman or the Dante Scarnecchia coaching tree.

Anyone who has played and/or coached with these two would be my first priority, as long as they had some coaching experience, proven track record and was a good fit with the staff/players.

Adazzio Would be a Awsome addition to the staff!

I wish Coach Swinney had a few more “former coaches” like Saban does.
I know we have Ted Roof and had Terry Bowden but imagine Chad Morris had a offensive analysis for us for a year or two.

I hope we add money to our athletic budget that allows Swinney to hire more off the field staff members
