Watson: "You'll see us in Tampa next year"

The nation’s best player wants to go to Tampa. Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson put on a show during Monday night’s College Football Playoff National Championship Game, cementing his place as not only the best quarterback heading into the 2016 but maybe the best player regardless of position.

Watson, with you in the game all things are possible. We've got a good team and we was so proud of each of you. Don't ever feel you have let the fans down because you did not. You guys played your hearts out. Just a couple of things went their way. Tigers, I will always believe in you and you did not let us fans down. All I ask of the Tigers is not to hold your heads down. This was one of the best games I've seen in the Championship games. Go Tigers!!!!!!!!!

Hats off to Clemson playing their butts off tonight, it really looked like they were becoming the dominant team, which is why Saban & co. wisely pulled some trick plays to keep themselves in it...It looked like it was there for the taking minus a few miscues, but Bama has great athletes and in a physical game like that, you often see more miscues and unforced errors as fatigue and the physicality can take a toll...regardless, Clemson looked like it had a few chances to blow it open...IMO Clemsons offense was more dominant than Bamas defense, and Clemsons defense was more dominant tha bamas offense, but let up a few big broken coverage/missed tackle plays that kept Bama in it...Bama seemed the better team on special teams, as they had great return yardage, including a return for a td, As well as the trick punt, while Clemson rlly didnt return the ball much, as they havent seemed to find a return game all year...some of that is the good kicking from Bama making returns less attractive...But ya, Clemson looked more dominant on both side of the ball, but Bama had excellent special teams play, trick plays, and some big touchdowns on broken coverages that allowed them to overcome what appeared to be a more dominant team in Clemson...
Awesome effort by the Tigers though, especially considering Shaq and Boulware were banged up, and Mack went down with an injury, and the offense was without their deep threat with the loss of Mike williams and the suspension of the freshman...And lets be honest, nobody expected Clemson to have such a great season with so many youngsters playing key roles...The future is bright for Clemson, they looked more dominant than Bama with a young team...Heres to an amazing season in which Clemson showed they were one of the best teams out there, and were a joy to watch...Awesome job Tigers!!!!!

Watson was a beast tonight I swear he's like a mix between streeter(toughness) and Jesus(greatness) at one point he took the shape of a unicorn. The best is still yet to come. I look forward to a dominant year next year and they need to play like they did the last minute on play calling all the time. Hopefully Dabo send everyone thru a special teams building camp.

Well Clemson fans knew going in that they were the better overall team. Fans have preached being disrespected ect..Clemson fans knew that they could compete at the line of scrimmage with bama..could be just as dominate, fans knew all of that going in...the team knew that also , so that's not a huge surprise to the Clemson side. It just seemed like Clemson's defense wore down physically and mentally in the fourth. Busted coverages, missed tackles , starting safeties looked slow on special teams and regular coverage. I just think mentally and physically Clemson wore down. This is a learning experience. Learn from it and come back stronger next year..IMO

I believe it..

Losing Big Mac and Gore on the OL will sting a bit, but with stalwarts of Hyatt, Guillermo and Crowder returning and Fruhmorgen, Morris, Hearn, Falcinelli, and Green waiting in the wings we will be fine.

On the defensive side, Lawson is a big loss, but as we have seen Bryant can more than hold his own. I believe Dodd is gone too. However, with the rotations of Bryant, Ferrell, Yeargin, Register, Huggins (potentially) and Kelly we will be more than capable. The loss of Goodson hurts too because he has proved to be a good MLB, but with Boulware, Joseph, Williams, C Smith and newcomers Lamar and Shaq, we will once again be deep and talented.

Seconday who knows who is leaving and going at this point but I speculate that Kearse is gone because of his daugter. I think Mac will be back so he can go out on top as well as earn his degree. So secondary next year I see Green and V Smith at safety, MA locking down one side and CT the other. Then having Fields, Baker, and Carter making for a formidable rotation at the corners with Muse, Johnson, and Gibson providing depth.

Offensively we will absolutely be loaded no matter Wayne Trains decision with DW, AS, MW, HR, JL, R2M3, TT and hopefully DC and the bevy of talented RB's we have. Plus all of the talented freshman we have coming in..

Great time to be a Tiger!

Alexander won't come back

We'll see..

Jan 12, 2016, 5:27 AM

But I think MA wants to go out as a winner and get his degree.. I wont be surprised if he's back 1 more year. I know his folks need the money, but he's a gamer and doesnt like to lose.

Could not be PROUDER.

Could not be PROUDER to be a Tiger fan. Those are some GREAT young men. Thank you all for a great season.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

yep. that game mostly turned on Mack's absence.

Jan 12, 2016, 7:15 AM

The blown coverages were just Alabama exposing a raw secondary.

Yeah I think Clemson mentally and physically wore down. We saw the mental side with blown coverages and bad angles on possible tackles. On kick offs, our starting safeties had no speed to make plays late. Mac's absence was tough but overall I think Clemson wore down mentally while Bama stepped it up a little. Great season , great learning experience and they have a great chance to get back!

Well Mack doesn't play safety - wasn't blown coverage by a corner...

Thanks, Tigers!

Jan 12, 2016, 7:42 AM

Thanks for the memories of 2015... we're proud of you. What a game! Best I've ever seen. There were certainly no losers last night!

Bama made some big plays... we had some blown coverages... we made a few mistakes that you just can't make against a team like Alabama. But even so, we were in the ballgame til the end... every time Bama knocked us down, every time we fell down... we got back up and continued the fight! I've never been prouder. There's just no "quit" in my tigers!

What can you say about Deshaun Watson? I've run out of superlatives to describe him. A player like this only comes along maybe once in a lifetime. 4,100+ passing yards and 1,100+ rushing yards for the season... that's just crazy-good. And what about his heart? How many times did he get up off the canvas after being knocked down last night? Thanks, Deshaun, for being a Tiger. And what can you say about Wayne Gallman? 1,500 yards for the season, and every yard hard-earned. I really hope he comes back to "seal the deal" next year.

I thought the O-Line did a fabulous job last night against a really tough Bama defense. And not just last night... for the final 6 games of the season, Deshaun was only sacked twice! And the O-Line will only get better next year.

The D-Line played lights-out... other than the one big play by Henry, we made them earn every yard. We're going to see a bunch of those guys playing on Sunday next season. Without key injuries to Mac, Ben, and Shaq, it might have been a different story.

My hat's off to Alabama, too... they are the real deal. But I've gotta say that Saban could take a lesson from Dabo. Dabo is always quick to compliment the opponent... it seems Nick is a little slow in this regard (and that's about as diplomatic as I can put it). I'm proud of everything that Dabo brings to our program and our University. Dabo is, quite simply, the BEST, and we're very fortunate to have him wearing orange! Thanks, Coach!

As Deshaun says, we just might have to do this again in Tampa next year! Go, Tigers, and again, thanks to each and every one of you for an incredible year!

I don't like Saban and haven't for a long time. In this case though, I think you are wrong. I heard Saban compliment Clemson several times and even in his little end of game interview, he said Clemson gave them a huge challenge and have a great team. There are plenty of things to criticize about Saban but this was not one of them.

I feel so bad for this team...
The Acc is the only, only conference who can't get a team into the NC game
without running the table, again.
