Throwback Thursday: Homer Jordan

In the third in a series of interviews with former Clemson athletes, TigerNet catches up with national championship quarterback Homer Jordan. What does he think about the program today? What are his best memories, and what does he remember most about the 1981 season? (Clemson SID) Full Story »

David, anytime you can do an article with Homer, or any other former Tiger players, please do.

Homer Jordan was one of my favorites.

I'd love to hear what Danny Triplett, Lee Nanny, Jeff Bryant, and some of the others from that great team are up to.

just seeing that pic of him about to fake to Jeff McCall

on the dive/option, or maybe give it to him, brought back a ton of memories...particularly of that vicious OL blocking like they were angry on every play. I'd love to hear from Jeff Bryant (my favorite Tiger as a kid), Tripplett, Nanney, Bubba Brown, Randy Scott, Marvin Sims, etc. were up to....goodness we had some beasts back then, particularly on D.

Yes, more please. I was in fifth grade when we won it all but I remember it vividly. Ahh to hear Jim Philips say "Homer Jordan on the keeper" again. Great memories and we are teeing it up to make another run!!

Great to hear from him and glad he still tries to come to Clemson. Interesting comments about Watson and his son playing football.

Homer Jordan...The greatest quarterback in Clemson. He took us, (Clemson), to the promised land...The National Title. Undefeated season 13-0 Until it happens again, debate settled!

about the Tigers ain't a Tiger fan, period. I hope he keeps these coming in droves. I don't live in the past but I'm old enough to remember vividly the times where we rolled powerhouses out there every Saturday, particularly on defense, year after year. Young fans under 40 need to read these articles closely and understand that we're not saying that you should live in the past but true Tiger fans should WANT to hear from these former Tiger greats who roamed DV back then and wore the Paw when the Paw first became nationally known and set the tone for our expectations. The teams from '77 to '91 time frame were the best that have ever stood on the DV turf. The question about IF we want to read this stuff is comical to me. If you don't want to read it you need to go play Madden or go argue with some SEC dullard about CFB today. Those Tiger teams from this era were the reason by and large as to why we're as passionate as we continue to be as a fan base and I hope like hell all of these former Tigers come back as often as they can and get interviewed as often as they can. This is the stuff that makes a program go to another level with recruiting and how the culture becomes a permanent part of a player's life into adulthood.

+1. Not living in the past... just honoring it.***

i get long winded sometimes about this stuff, man

you said in one line what I meant by my post. When I was a kid I used to eat it up listening to my Pop and Uncle talk about Gore, Wayne Mass, Harry O, etc., and it irritates me to no end when younger fans get irritated when we talk about past greats. Like it's an insecurity or something...I can go on and on. It's obvious we're cut from the same cloth from past conversations so I'm not surprised that you agree.
