Sunday night teleconference: Swinney discusses injuries, Auburn

Fifth-ranked Clemson leaves the weekend with a healthy roster and a healthy respect for next weekend’s opponent. Clemson handled Kent St. 56-3 in the season opener Saturday in Death Valley, and will host No. 12 Auburn at 7 p.m. next weekend. The SEC Tigers handled Georgia Southern 41-7 Saturday, limiting the Eagles to just 78 total yards. Full Story »

It was early too. Hope he's ok!

Could be just his swag walk.

Key to game with Auburn will be on Clemson's offensive line and defensive pressure on Auburn's QB. It's time for Clemson to play with a " Bad Attitude " which is something Auburn doesn't want to see.

Yep. Need to prep for this weekend like they did for uscjr last year. Do exactly what you said.

Defense definitely is the key.

Penetration from the Defense

Sep 4, 2017, 12:16 AM

It takes brute force to penetrate the offensive line, but discipline not to over pursue. Over pursuit can get you beat if there is a decent QB on the field. I didn't see much penetration from our defense against KENT State, but also didn't see any blitz packages being dialed up. We will see the measuring stick for sure against Auburn. With Jabril back we should have some more big bodies up front in the trenches. Also, hoping that Van Smith isn't too banged up because he's solid in the secondary. I hope for our sake that Venables was merely playing vanilla ball out there. I mean, Clemson did great at stuffing the run, but didn't have many tackles for loss. Most of them were for no gain though which will win games, but to really put a hurting on Auburn we will need more penetration on the line.

Our country won't go on forever, if we stay soft as we are now. There won't be any America because some foreign soldiery will invade us and take our women and breed a hardier race.

I doubt either side of the ball showed anything but basic. Why show Auburn anything?
