New Story: Summer breakdown: Hyatt leads the way for solid, veteran offensive line

Summer breakdown: Hyatt leads the way for solid, veteran offensive line

Clemson's veteran offensive line loses just one starter from last season in center Jay Guillermo. Veterans like Mitch Hyatt, Tyrone Crowder, Sean Pollard, Tremayne Anchrum and Taylor Hearn will anchor a deep and solid group that should be among the ACC's best. In the fourth part of a series, Daniel Shirley takes a look at the secondary. Full Story »

With our Dline talent, the two lines can make each other stronger in scrimmages. I believe they'll be ready for anyone.

I know WRU and all the window dressing

but this group will continue and maybe improve the power running game. Love those "big uglies."

I think he will be a good pro but he has his chain of hotels to fall back on. ;)

The team must get an excellent deal for road accomodations. :)

Would it be possible or even plausible that DeHond could play center. If so, that would be a massive load in the middle of our offense, and for the most part, a QB as tall as Trevor Lawrence would benefit in stepping up in the pocket in the passing game, a defense would have to apply pressure from the DEs a lot. I really don't know the rule of thumb of what size a center should be. Opinions???

I don't see him playing center at his size he will be an offensive tackle but you talking about TL right now is a little early. I'm more concerned with the line helping KB or HJ right now lol. Which I'm not really worried bc I think this line could be one of the best overall lines we have had. I'm excited to see pollard continue to grow he's going to be a force he help his own as a true freshmen against Bama which espn said was prob best front 7 to ever play college football blah blah blah lol.

You don't want an extremely tall center. Nose tackles get leverage on them and move them too easily.

I'm so glad we now have big uglies on the offensive line. The trenches are where the games are won and it's showed since clemson landed Hyatt and other highly recruited guys we have took the next step to elite and an annual championship contender for years to come! I think Justin will step in without much if any drop off from jay. This line is big and has a mean streak and will def help whoever becomes our full time starter at QB establish themselves with time in the pocket. With our skill posistions and RBs if the line plays as good as I expect we shouldn't see much drop off and will be national/playoff contenders!!

I never been so hyped over an offensive line before the start of a season. I can't wait to see this group. We have depth with tons of experience. I am equally as giddy to see the new guys come in and show their abilities and the future of the Clemson Tiger offensive line brotherhood.

Man, what a time to be a Clemson Tiger!

It has been a long time coming, even though we arrived a couple years ago (back to back National Championship apperances), to me this is the year that says we are here to stay.

I probably missed it but is Noah Green still part of the team or did he transfer out? I checked the roster and didn't see any mention of him there or in the article. I know he got a little game time last year, he was #71. I really thought he would be a great addition to the program.

Idk I haven't heard anything about him transferring. That's intresting I thought he could be a pretty good depth guy for us. Guess we will see come fall camp, if he left or quit or something idk, i guess that opens up a scholarship for the 18 class but I have no idea if he's still with us or not. Go Tigers!!

Noah Green update
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said after the scrimmage that guard Noah Green decided back in December to take a medical hardship and has decided to end his football career.

Swinney said it was an intestinal issue that he was born with. He will stay on the team and will help as a student coach. He will also get to keep his scholarship to attend Clemson.
