New Story: Commentary: Has USuC declined from last year?

I would suggest YES.

I just watched some footage about USUC on the SEC Channel, and you would think they are world-beaters. It sounded like they killed UGA last Sunday. I hope UGA fans watched how they got beat so badly. Another episode like that one, and I would vote them Top Ten easily. I'm amazed anyone has even scored on them.

Defensively they actually have improved, but without Cooper their receivers are nowhere to be found against solid competition. Edwards will become a good wideout, but talent wise USuck is not anything close to past teams under the OBC.

They do not have a steady OL or QB and their backs are third string material or SoCon. level.
They might win five games without injuries and some plain luck, but three wins would not surprise me.

Go Tigers!

There defense may be somewhat better, but I'm not so sure

UGA is still getting rushing yards on their D, and T a&m is not the offensive juggernaut they have been in years past. I'm not sure that the best Offense they have played thus far wasn't actually ECU. That said, UT will light them up, but other than that, they play zero teams with an offensive pulse until they come into Death Valley. While I would love to see 70 hung on them, there are bigger fish to fry with the ACCCG and playoffs, so I could see starters getting pulled early, rhus continuing their delusion of a solid D. Although if the 2's and 3's wanna get in on racking up half a hundred, that is JUST fine!

Their defensive stats are somewhat better...

but that is largely the product of playing a bunch of teams with lousy offenses. In fact, four of their six opponents are ranked 74th or worse nationally in total offense with Vandy and Kentucky coming in at 126 and 111 respectively.

Yes...they have....

While their defensive stats are somewhat better, that is largely the product of playing a bunch of teams with lousy offenses. ECU is probably the highest rated offense they've faced, and the Pirates racked-up over 500 total yards of offense on that vaunted defense. If they don't turn it over four times, ECU most likely wins the game.

Offensively they're an absolute train wreck. They would have trouble scoring in a women's prison with a hand full of pardons.

They may end-up winning a couple of more games compared to last year but that has more to do with playing a much softer schedule than any significant level of improvement.

I have been watching SCISSA games since its inception and I have never seen a team as bad as Carolina looked on Sunday. I've also seen church touch football games more entertaining.
