New question, guys

If Charlie Whitehurst was the QB of this team, what do you think our record would be? Notice I didn’t say DW or TL ?

Nah, Charlie didn't play OL or DL. ND physically mauled us on the line of scrimmage.

That's because DJ can't throw a forward pass. ND just stacked the box and came after him. I firmly believe a more mobile QB would have won that game.

Yep. DJ was not capable of passing them out of a stacked box.

Disagree, with Charlie behind center we're likely not even punting when ND gets the block-6. We also don't have 0 points going into the 4th and ND likely only has 7 going into the 4th instead of 14.

We'll never know, but again ND played smash mouth football and we didn't respond. Charlie would have been better, but he too would have had little time to pass as the pressure from ND's defense was strong.
ND rushed for 263 yards. They absolutely blew us off the line.
A good QB can indeed make up for a lot of issues, but in my opinion the ND game was actually worse than the score and I think based on the way the entire team played, we would have lost by less, but still lost with Whitehurst.

11-1 or possibly 12-0. We would have beat the Coots for sure.

I can’t answer that. I never saw Whitehurst drop very many passes.

What would it be with Cole Stoudt?

Will Proctor? Cullen Harper?
Whitehurst was in the NFL, what, 10-12 years? I sure hope it would be better!

How many other Clemson QB's prior to Dabo

achieved even that? I think it's one, Fuller.
So Charlie was among to best 60 QB's in the entire world, as he was on an NFL roster all those years

I think we would have been 11-1 with all three (though Stoudt is the worst and the most questionable). It would not have taken much to beat South Carolina. Any QB who could move the ball 20-30 yards in 4 tries (not downs, but 4 tries) would have beaten them. I think the only QB we've had in the past 30 years who might not have accomplished that would have been Streeter. People can talk about how tough he was all they want, but his accuracy was horrible (especially against pressure) and he was a turnover machine.

We would have had to spread it out though. 2 TE sets etc. We should be doing that anyway though. Thats what everyone is doing in the NFL now. They spread the O out to create more opportunities. Our system makes it so simple for opposing defenses.

12-0 with Whitehurst. The games against Wake and Cuse wouldn't have been close.
11-1 with Cullen Harper.

We'd be 11-1. Charlie was a solid, not phenomenal QB. He could complete at least a couple passes that would have won the game for us on Saturday. The issues with Notre Dame were far bigger than a single player. We were absolutely steamrolled in the trenches on both sides of the ball. We would have lost with Trevor or Deshaun.
Last year, Charlie would have helped us to a 12-0 record and we would have made (and lost) in the playoffs.

Charlie's probably pushing 40 now and may not be in top shape, so I would say 11-1
