With the addition of Softball, which would you rather have?

Wrestling or Lacrosse? Lacrosse is much more interesting to me. Not really into men in tights getting points for riding each other!

Yes, but many more schoarships with softball. TitleIX will then allow more mens scholarships.

If you are talking a new program...lacrosse! I am watching UNC/Maryland and Navy/Lehigh right now. Cost wise, we would need some practice field space but could use Riggs for games. In a couple years they could make an upgrade and replace the Riggs grass with turf and you would be set for about 10 years on facilities. It would take time to grow into the ACC but when Rutgers is #1 right now, Denver won the championship a couple years ago, and the rise of the Big10 teams, a program can be built in 3-4 years.

neither would really fit in with the culture at clemson

Personally I find lacrosse to be a terribly boring sport. A lesser version of hockey and soccer. Our ACC rivals are already really good at it
Wrestling is huge in the Midwest. Iowa gets over 15,000 regularly to duals. We used to have it, but not sure how successful we would be now.
How about we go off the reservation and add ice hockey

I think lacrosse would be a great fit for the spring at Clemson. Physical, fast moving and tons of kids in the state playing the game. Another D1 program would really help the development of the sport on the state. Right now there are lots of good HS teams. Wando plays a national schedule with teams from Va, NC, Md, Fl and Canada. Someone in the state is going to take the plunge into D1. Right now the only D1 is Furman but CoC is probably going to be next. I really hope Clemson is on this path during the next 5 years.

But you're the king of updating us on sports that 99% of Tigernet doesn't follow.
I think lacrosse is a great game and a growing game. We've had some good club teams over the years. And it's a sport that the ACC dominates, so it would be fun to be a part of that.
But I'm also fine with leaving stuff as is.

I've always been a proponent of having a lacrosse program.
I thought we should have added lacrosse instead of rowing (to satisfy Title IX). The issue of facility should not have been an issue if we used Riggs Field until we find better options down the road.

Personally I would love Polo! Great sport with rich S.C. Heritage, but unfortunately likely to expensive unless done as an indoor version.
Go Tigers!
