Need some Charlotte help for ACCCG

Oct 19, 2022, 4:09 AM

Never been to BOA Stadium and never stayed in the area.
Driving up from Clemson with my son.
Should I stay close to the stadium and walk or stay outside and drive in and park?

Plenty of tickets available on ticketmaster.
Is the 500 level too high?

Will solidify plans on Sunday.
Any help is appreciated.

We tailgate in the parking lots around the stadium. A few good lots are nice. Then we stay with easy access to driving in. Less than 30 minutes or less. Works for us. Secure parking when you get your accommodations.

Stay in town and walk to the stadium.

We tailgate at the Drought and I think it was once called Clutch. It is a big Clemson bar.

I got a spot in a parking garage right across the street. The time before I just drove around and found a lot. It was $40 and the little lots were like $25 or $30. The extra $10 was well worth it plus less anxiety looking for a spot.

Men at 25 play football. Men at 40 play tennis. Men at 60 play golf. Have you noticed as men get older their balls get smaller.

We bought our seats 3 weeks ago in section 233. Every seat in BOA Stadium is good, even the uppers. There are parking garages directly across the street from the stadium less than a 1/4 mile away. We got pre-paid parking for $50 directly across the street. There is also pre-paid tailgating lots you can pre-pay for starting at $50 just do a search for ACC Championship game parking.

We plan on tailgating at the WFNZ Dog House near the stadium before the game.

Good luck and have a great time.

Stay close and walk.

Plenty to see, eat, and do in the uptown area of Charlotte.

Not a bad seat in the house at BOA.

For food and drink Ri-Ra's is great, it's an Irish pub and is awesome, it is also near the stadium and right in the middle of Fanfest! Stay close and drive in, never had a problem with parking.

We have done both over the years. Pros and cons for both. Staying within walking distance is more expensive even after factoring parking and a hotel further away. By now, most hotels are sold out and you will have to purchase from someone like Gameday Travel and pay their additional fee. The weather in Charlotte that time of year can be pretty iffy so conditions for tailgating can be less than optimal. There is usually a lot of availability at hotels near the airport and that is not a very long drive. If you go that route secure parking early through one of the parking lot sites like parkmobile. We stayed by the airport and got a spot to tailgate near the stadium for the GA game last year but that was early September and the weather was better. This year for the ACCCG we are going to stay downtown and walk.

Hotels in the uptown area tend to fill-up quickly...

so staying at a hotel that is within walking distance may not be an option for you at this point.

If not, be sure to go to ParkWhiz and buy a parking pass.

As late as Sunday Gameday Travel still had rooms available downtown. But it’s like buying tickets through Stubhub - you have to pay Gameday a booking fee. I reserved rooms that had a cancellation policy early on to avoid the fee.

If you are going up early check out the NASCAR Hall of Fame. It is within walking distance of the Stadium.

You can stay downtown and walk to the stadium.
There are 2 Hyatts nearby that are fine and not too expensive.

Having said that, there isn't much food in the area and basically nothing was open after the game.

If you care about that, might want to drive in and park.

There are entrances on all 4 sides of the stadium and the ones on 2 sides get backs up but the other two don't.

If you walk around the stadium to the side across from the elevated road, you can almost walk in right before game time where it might take half an hour to get in if you go to the entrance on the near side of the stadium.

Two more questions:

Is gamedaytravel a legit way to go?

Is the light rail an option anyone has used?

Thanks for all the replies.

The lite rail is great except it fills up after the game. Three years ago there was also a concert the same night as the game so it was a little crazy.

I drove up from Charleston to a 49ers-Panthers wildcard game several years back. Paid either $10 or $20 to park in a garage near the NASCAR HOF and walked about, I'm guessing, a half mile. Either of those seemed very reasonable.

Charlotte is super accessible so you can get in and out easily. You could stay in Gastonia or Concord for much cheaper than downtown CHA, then drive about half an hour the day of the game.

Can't speak to what the view is like in the 500s. I waited out a pair of tickets on StubHub for the second row and the morning of the game they dropped to a reasonable price.

Yes, we are staying at the Embassy Suites in Concord. It was a great price and just a 10-minute drive to downtown.
