ND would be stupid to follow ACC when other conferences make $20mil+ more annually

Jul 1, 2022, 11:21 PM

So how does the ACC survive? They need to roll ND, then other schools immediately like WVA, then big CFU alum and big money Houston. Even if they chased these schools and didn't get ND, then we are dead.

I think the ACC has to merge with the Big and then we have the power to manipulate the SEC a little bit. But if ACC tried to stay relevant as is, then we are dead. We cant continue to be paid $20+mil behind SEC and Big and expect to be contenders.

This stroke of brilliance from the Big 10 may be devastating for the ACC, BIG 12, and PAC 12. The Big 10 and SEC combined will have 16 teams across 24 states. The only top 20 college football markets (by tv ratings) these 2 conferences are now missing representation will be San fran (#6), Boston (#10), Phoenix (#11), Seattle (#12), Denver (#16), Miami (#18), and No Cal(#20). That's 8 of the top 10, 13 of the top 20. Keeping the team travel, time zones, and regional interests in mind, the only logical additions would be BC & Miami. There's not much need to add Clemson, ND, or fsu, imo - splitting smallish TV markets where there are already SEC or Big 10 schools.

Reports today saying that UCLA and USC will bring in $100M as soon as year one from the Big 10. ACC teams won't make it to $60M until 2029, based on current contractual obligations. That's at least an extra $350-$400MM to USC and UCLA that ACC schools won't have. facilities and coaches salaries will go astronomically high. Major networks will box out PAC 10, BIG 12, ACC, etc. CU needs to find a way to get on this train somehow, even with a $50M ACC departure penalty.

Truth is ACC stupid letting ND in conference without FB joining too. But better than most at least made them play few ACC teams
