NASCAR

Feb 21, 2016, 3:28 PM

Is unwatchable on TV. I told myself I was going to try and watch it for an hour and I made it 7 minutes.

I'm not watching but it's safe to say your're not a race fan.

I've never really been against it. I understand the premise and grew up with my dad liking it but has it always been this boring?

Re: NASCAR

Feb 21, 2016, 3:35 PM

Friendly advice, just watch the last 15 laps.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's true, because ultimately wrecks and cautions will

Feb 21, 2016, 3:56 PM

pretty much determine the winner. Just keep your car in the race, as close to the front as possible without taking any risk, riding around in line, then hope something opens up on the last 10-15 laps and go for it. All of the important action, mainly multiple wrecks, cautions, and restarts happen then.

Daytona is never boring IMO. You just have to watch it and appreciate what they are doing each and every lap. It's like when people say watching golf is boring. It is if you don't know wat all is actually happening.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There will be a bi crash with two laps left

Feb 21, 2016, 3:53 PM

that will negate an exellent battle for the win up ahead. They will then do the shootout that will result in another big crash. I just saved you some time.

Yep. It's turned into a joke. Also, some of the drivers will

be pi$$ed and complain about it, but once again, nothing will be done.

Football? Unless we're playing the Vols at Bristol like,
VT, shouldn't this be in another forum, like basketball
or baseball. :/ Crump gonna kick some a$$; let me make
a list.

You are about dumb as heck if you think NASCAR is non-athletic! I'd like to see you handle one of those cars going over 200mph for 500 miles. That's just ignorant to say.

Well, I've never watched a full Nascar event or a full soccer match but I grade them both equal in terms of excitement. Very dull to me.

Watching cars go around in a circle at the same speed

Feb 21, 2016, 5:35 PM

Isnt entertaining and I dont get it. There used to be differences in the models but now its all the same car. They should give each team a set amount of money and let them build the fastest car they possibly can, with no restrictions. They could build a bat mobile that went 350 mph and it'd be perfectly fine. That type of nascar I would watch,

I have gone to a couple of races with my Dad. But I can't tolerate to watch a race on TV. It's not that I am bored....it is the constant buzzing sound the cars make. It drives me crazy! My Dad will put the race on mute when I am home.

I was once a huge fan but Brian France is destroying it. The championship format is a gimmicky joke now. Hopefully some one will replace BF before it's a total loss and get back to just racing instead of all th gimmicks

Agree.

It killed me to see Rockingham and North Wilkesboro shut out and Darlington cut to 1 race in order to expand into new markets. But I think that was father Bill who did that.

Racing is one of those things that either people like it or they hate it. I like racing but have grown to dislike nascar and what they have turned it into. I grew up around dirt racing and my uncle promotes travelers rest speedway now. The best thing to me to watch is a dirt late model or a sprint car flat foot it around a dirt track. I realize if you don't like racing it won't much matter. But here's a link to one of the biggest dirt late model races in the country, at eldora speedway. Owned by Tony Stewart. http://youtu.be/g6XR4jPFYcs
These cars have over 800 hp and are built from the ground up. An engine can run around $30,000-$50,000 and a rolling chassis (a car with no motor) costs from $20,000 to $35,000 depending on the bells and whistles you have on it. I love it when people say all dirt racing is redneck. Some may be, but late model racing is a rich mans game.

Re: NASCAR

Used to be that I couldn't get enough NASCAR...attended multiple races each year, cookouts at the house for other races, etc. But this new car has completely ruined it. I stopped watching years ago, and we walked out of Charlotte (free tickets thank God) halfway through the race like 3 or 4 years ago because it was just so boring. We went and shot pool.

Shame, really.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

NASCAR is that background noise during Sunday supper.

Feb 21, 2016, 9:02 PM

Nobody actually watches it until the announcers holler out about a crash. After the drivers crawl out, everyone starts eating again until the next crash.
