My thoughts on Conference Realignment

All of the realignment is all about the money. Who controls the money? ESPN (SEC), FOX (BIG) and NBC (Notre Dame). As we all have heard it all comes down to what Notre Dame decides to do. Notre Dame wants to continue to be independent. If the ACC does not exist, Notre Dame will likely go to the BIG. ESPN and NBC don't want Notre Dame in the BIG because FOX would now have the pieces that would make them on the same level as ESPN in College Football. So ESPN and NBC do have a dog in the fight to keep the ACC viable. NBC will give Notre Dame a better deal so they can stay independent and ESPN will renegotiate with the ACC. Just my take and I know it won't shake out exactly this way but Notre Dame is the key as many have said.

The problem with the ACC is it’s full of schools whose culture and alumni don’t care about football. Even a renegotiated ACC contract will not solve Clemson’s revenue shortfall vs BIG and SeC schools. Bottom line, nobody watches the Wake vs BC game. UVA vs Duke, nada. Syracuse vs GT, nothing.
Clemson has to to generate similar revenue to actual football schools or we end up a tier 2 program. Simple as that.

The ACC may not get to the same $$ as the BIG and SEC with a renegotiated contract but it will be similar as you said. As I said it is in ESPN and NBC best interest for the ACC to remain viable. If there is no extra $$ to the ACC, then Notre Dame goes to the BIG and the ACC begins to fall apart.

I think that CLEMSON has to be where the money is equal or CU does become a tier 2 program, simple as that, because of NIL money and the ability to recruit at the level they have the past 14 years. As some have mentioned, the ACC has too many games that fans simply don't watch or care about, which hurts TV revenue for the entire league. Basically you have 4 ACC teams with TV interest, in order, CLEMSON, FSU, MIAMI AND NC STATE. After those 4 all the rest drop off drastically and CLEMSON's influx from ACC Championships, and college football playoffs have put more $$$ into the ACC coffers than anyone for football in the last 10-12 years. So that being said, as the CLEMSON goes so does the ACC.....or not!

It would serve the ACC if we bailed. They have always disregarded Clemson. Another writer spelled out numerous examples where they have worked against us in favor of the Tobacco Road schools.
So, what happens depends on invites and Clemson. I sure hope Dabo and Grahm are working this deal, otherwise we could be circling the bowl. I hope we don't have to depend on Jim Phillips. He is worse than Swafford.
We could always go after the Cowboys, Mountaineers, Ducks and Huskies. And maybe Stanford. I went to a game there with UCLA years ago and it was awesome.

TV package and tell ESPN/FOX to stuff it. Or go public.

If the majority of ACC schools voted to breach our contact with ESPN, running through 2036, it would let those with wandering eyes like Clemson and FSU out of the GOR. Wake, BC, Cuse, et al ain’t allowing that.
That deal, “irrevocably and exclusively grants to the conference during the term all rights necessary for the conference to perform the contractual obligations of the conference expressly set forth in the ESPN agreement.” In layman's terms, “any TV revenue a school is due from the ACC’s contract with ESPN is conference property through June 30, 2036, regardless of whether the school remains an ACC member or leaves for another conference.”
