My respect grew for Jimbo last night

FSU could have scored a couple of times more in the end and hung even more pts in the latter minutes of the 4th going Gangnam style on us. Jimbo called off the dogs once we were beat. In this day and age there are a few high profile coaches who would have kept going to make a statement.
The FSU team also acted with class once they knew they had won. No showboating you would see under Bobby. They remind me of 'Bama in that respect. Can definitely see Saban's influence on Jimbo.
This all comes from a Clemson grad who was raised 100 miles from Gainesville, FL and grew up a huge Gator fan who despised the 'Nole nation. I still dont like them but the ACC needs a nationally relevant team and if it isnt us this year then Im a little more comfortable with the Seminoles being the one to carry the torch.
Now the rest of you can go back to calling for BV's head on a stick and about the coot in your office that you are dreading to see tomorrow.

There is no reason it shouln't be several of us. It benefits us both to keep winning, and VT too. The worst thing that can happen now is for either of us to go and out and lose to an inferior team.
On BV, don't you guys think a defensive system takes time to really put in place ? Of course personnel is the bottom line, but many here noted this week that our D was the same as last year.. but it's more complex than that. We have made leaps each year in our defensive rankings - statistically - under Stoops and it was the same core of personnel. One huge issue, and you guys are getting there, is depth on the D line. At no other position is it more important to bring in fresh legs without a dropoff. D lineman get gassed, it's just the nature of the beast.

I agree with this. My dad has been complaining about the lack of recruiting good defensive linemen over the past few years. Dabo has concentrated on offense a lot more. I hate bringing Danny Ford's name into a thread as I know everyone gets sick and tired of hearing people compare everything to him...but the man had a solid defense year in and year out. He always recruited heavily on defense first, then the rest later. If you don't have a good defense...it doesn't matter how strong your offense is. You have to hold some people back. You can't depend on your offense to win a game by outscoring the opposite teams ability to score against an awful defense. I think the last of defensive recruiting is starting to show its ugly face.....no depth and a lack of talent up front in the 1st string. Scary.

who decides to replace the second team with the first team with 4 minutes left so that he could win by 37 instead of 30. No class at all but what else would you expect from Holgerson? What an a** - hope we get the chance to play him again.

Does anyone actually understand the message of this thread? We are respecting an opponent for calling off the dogs rather than continue to embarrass us on natl tv. And the reason we respect him is because the last guy humiliated us. My how far we have fallen. Wow.

Good points and this kind of beat down in the second half is not acceptable and it really does suck. However, the genesis of this post was looking back to what I've witnessed from the Seminole players in the past. I remember sitting in the stands during the first Bowden Bowl (and others) seeing things like:

in 1993 Florida State pounded us 57-0. They were up 43-0 at the beginning of the 4th quarter. EVERY time Clemson got anywhere close to scoring in the 4th quarter, Bobby Bowden put his first string defense back in the game. He also had his first string offense in for most of the game. Was there a need to run up the score after it was 43-0? No, but he continued to do it. That's classless.

I agree with the OP. Also, while I had heard about his son previously I had since forgotten. Seeing him with his young son at the end made me feel for the guy and his family some. - This may be because I had a child this year and could kind of imagine the same. Not sure...

I have to agree with you on this as well. Also his post game interview was very nice. He gave the Tigers a ton of credit....way more than any of the current media outlets have. He seemed very humble. I respected that.
