My fellow Tiger fans, a serious question for you that has been on my mind:

May 19, 2022, 12:13 PM

Do we have the resources to keep up with the current arms race? I worry we do not to be frank. Hear me out before you flame away. My reasoning is just like why Lincoln Riley is about to hit that next level at USC, RESOURCES! LA businesses, Will Ferrel, Boosters etc. A whole lot of resources available. Ohio State has basically the whole state of Ohio businesses to support, AND a nationwide fan base, and yes, that matters. Add in the Miami's of the world and a few others and it about to be a MUCH different world. And for all of us laughing abiut TAMU, our old timers will remember, ALL those old SW Conference schools are WELL versed in couhhing up oil money. Yes our culture will sell a lot of kids to come here. My concern is that it's going to start being a lot of projects and developmental kids with an occasional blue chipper thrown in. Thoughts?

Yeah, I worry about that too. I believe in the coming years, we're going to see a big change in college football. A lot of us cried about the NIL stuff, when it was just talk, and not a reality. Some folks thought we were over reacting, but unless someone gets some kind of reign on this, everything we worried about is going to come to pass. Regardless of what happens in the future, as long as there is a football team, wearing Tiger Paws, playing in Death Valley, I'll be a Tiger fan.

Our only hope is the NIL type kids spend more time shopping

for Lambos and Jordans than they do in the weight room.

We won't be able to spend like other programs.

No, we do not have near the alumni base that many of the larger schools do. The uniqueness of Clemson, our coaching staff and the passion of our fans will keep us better than most schools, but it will be hard to keep up with the schools that have great fan bases and lots of money. But don't lose hope, we will be good and just as there were many unintended consequences of this that may be corrected in the next year or two. Also, we know the head coach matters and as long as Dabo is here I like our chances. His job will be harder, but I believe he is up for the challenge. He loves his job.

”but it will be hard to keep up with the schools that have great LARGE fan bases and lots of money.”

which is exactly how ABC/Disney/ESPN wants it to be. Mo’ money, mo’ money, mo’ money. Keep puny little schools like Clemson out of the penthouse suite.

I'd like to think that we have a team working behind the scenes that is structuring something that is appealing to businesses from an investment point of view. Perhaps the same team that grew the paw into what is now nationally recognizable to all. Let's hope
