Saw Top Gun Movie

Great fun trip back to the 80s feel of movies. No virtue signaling was refreshing. I wasn’t encouraged to flagellate myself for being an old white guy. Movie is worth the ticket

Update: I saw it Sunday evening and give it a solid 8. Wasn’t as moved by it as some on here. Maybe I’m dead inside. But the air visuals and combat are a 10.

They’ve removed almost all signs and symbols of America and American power, opting instead to make this movie more palatable to a global audience. Also, a Chinese company called Tencent is a partner with Paramount on this film.
So….
No enemy countries are mentioned. Even the “enemy” plane in this one has a made-up name.
Maverick’s jacket in the original movie had a Taiwan flag. It’s gone now.
Notice the movie logo. It’s all white. No more red, white, and blue.
Minor stuff, but this is the kind of thing that usually gets the fake patriots stirred up.

Neal, my family will have to drug me to see it. As a matter of fact I haven’t set foot in a theater since I went to see An Officer and a Gentleman. Now figure out how long it has been. Don’t intend to go to another one . Stay home, save my money and quit supporting those Hollywood morons.

I saw the movie today. It’s really good and plays well off the 1st one. My 2 fave Tom movies are Top Gun and Jerry Maguire. In the past I loved Tom but now I refuse to go to his movies (except this one!) because he’s a weirdo. Scientology is so bizarre and he’s a freak. Katie Holmes had to devise a plan to get away from him and that crazy “religion” which by the way is a cult. Has all the features of a cult. I watched all the episodes Leah Remini did about Scientology and wow it’s an eye opener. She was raised in that craziness and she and her family finally got out. Her mom is so remorseful that she pulled her kids into it. I cannot believe any sane, intelligent person could ever believe that crap and ALSO spend hundreds of thousands of dollars while in there. I lost all respect for Tom Cruise.

Other than the thought of hooking up with Nicole Kidman, I thought the first one was a waste of time. I’ll pass on watching other men play volleyball. Might catch the second one on Netflix cause I’m hearing it’s pretty good

The more of a fan you were of the first one, the more you'll enjoy this one. The film is loaded with references to the original. Cinematography is amazing in the aerial sequences. I'm wanting to see it again and I just saw it yesterday!

Saw it the other night with the wife, our take.
-TC is nutty as a squirrel convention but knows entertainment and delivers
-Nice throwbacks to the OGTG without being lazy about it
-Casting was on point for Rooster and Hangman
-Flying sequences were top notch
-Dogfight football might be the next thing

seriously since I saw him jumping up and down on Oprah Winfrey's couch. And, then there's the fact that he had already been enough of a Doofus not to be able to hold on to Nicole Kidman, BEFORE later losing Katie Holmes, the woman he was jumping up and down about.
And, worst of all, that shrimp made a TURRIBEL Jack Reacher.
