My email to ESPN about Cuntingham.

Oct 28, 2013, 2:49 PM

I am a Clemson University alumni and am writing to complain about the bias of Ed Cunningham. It is borderline slander what Mr. Cunningham says about Clemson while commentating our football games on ESPN. I have seen other games with Cunningham's commentary on several occasions and have yet to see the level of intense negativity, amount of times past events are brought up with no bearing on the current contest, or outright bias for the other team (this past weekend when Clemson scored a touchdown he was audibly upset at the absence of a penalty to negate the score). This level of bias is nothing new. It goes back to the Clemson/Texas A&M contest in 2005 to the present day. I see that Clemson plays the University of Virginia this week in the same time slot meaning the potential for Cunningham to once again color commentate the match up. I respectfully request someone, anyone (even Pam Ward), to take his place. Thanks for your time and consideration.

There's something in these hills.

I really don't understand his apparent bias....

Oct 28, 2013, 2:56 PM

He's a University of Washington alum.

Yes that was the best part.

I actually miss when Urban Meyer called our games on ESPN. The guy was very complimentary, and not nearly the ######## everyone makes him out to be.

I thought over all,Ed was trying to be fair to both
teams.He was bragging on Sammy,Tajh and others.He
even said that Shuey could have been called for
interference on an underneath route on the Terp
receiver,but also said,you don't call those close
ones.I think you are being a whiney and acting
a little whimpy.Just watch the game and don't get
upset about the announcers and get your panties in
a wad.BTW,ESPN will probably fire Ed,since you pack
a load of power.

Oct 28, 2013, 3:38 PM [ in reply to Re: My email to ESPN about Cuntingham. ]

the broadcast crew was overtly negative about Clemson, with a very few compliments.

What announcers say doesn't matter.Let them talk.
I don't think his comments turned out to be one
sided.I just don't think whining about those folks
will do any good.

If I heard "Boyd is there best RB" one more time....

I was going to have to lower the volume. Luckily it didn't come to that.

especially when hot rod went for 160+, wth does he want ?

i agree with tigerdrummer. cunningham isn't even a horse's ash.

You are evidently not technical enough,to mute the
tv volume and turn on the game on radio and listen
to our play by play team. You can still watch the
action on your tv.Very simple operation, especially
when your sensitivity level is fluctuating.Get a
grip and have fun.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

too big of a difference in the play, and the call. i've got

Oct 28, 2013, 3:36 PM

cable, and it's not near as bad as satellite, which i used to have, but still grates on my nerves too much to enjoy doing that.

Our play by play radio team sucks ####

Oct 28, 2013, 4:30 PM [ in reply to Re: If I heard "Boyd is there best RB" one more time.... ]

While they are complimentary towards Clemson (obviously) they are still almost as annoying.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I've ehard him call very few games other than Clemson games

Oct 28, 2013, 3:32 PM

And in the Clemson games they've been ones where we were favored and should have won. My guess is he's a bit of a "play up the underdog" kind of guy, and it comes across as a bias against us since we aren't in that role.

Don't get me wrong, my chief complain with him is that he contradicts himself and makes some patently stupid statements ("they're lucky they're not in the NFL where PI is a spot foul") more than any bias.

I mostly just laugh at him as he explains to us why a flag shouldn't have been thrown because it was a close call just seconds after arguing a flag should've been thrown even though it was a close call.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm not sure if he's more biased or just stupid***

Not only does he show bias , usually beats several horses to death during our games, absolutely horrible!!!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: My email to ESPN about Cuntingham.

Oct 29, 2013, 7:44 PM

Easy solution. If you can't or choose not to go to the game, go to a loud sports bar and watch the game. You can't hear a word the announcers are saying but can enjoy the game with other Clemson fans.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You guys worry me. When you start writing to major networks

Oct 29, 2013, 7:50 PM

the likes of ESecPN and expect that it means something because you're ... well either you, a Clemson fan, or just you ...

I would like to think that they do care about your opinion but ... my guess is NO! Honestly, who is going to stop watching? The die hard CU fan is not turning it off and the casual fan doesn't care.
