Hey y'all - one of my buddies is trying to start a business re:NIL.

His idea: what if folks like you and me could give players like $5 ("buy a beer") for good plays.

Tyler Brown mosses an opponent you could give him $5-10.

Easy way for folks who don't have $1,000,000 to support our players and keep them in tiger town.

He's trying to interview athletes now to see if there's any interest.

the player. if you think about it, we had the best success when we had the players voting as team to not be on social media during the football season. I can see where fans of apposing teams could come on and try and be negative stirring the stink.

I would do it like this.
Have a way where the player gets an INT or TD or 1st down then the fans can comp him the beer money or whatever but if the player doesn't sign up and receive it then it goes to any offensive or Defensive lineman who does. But also give the player the option of spreading the love by splitting it with the linemen or player who throws the key block that helps him score etc.

But don't have the contact between the player and fan. They either give or they don't.
Also consider unfortunate situations like a player has a season ending injury or makes a great play but really gets screwed over by the ref.

I guess your buddy has missed the fact that NIL is earned income and has to be reported with a W-2 or 1099. Save him a ton of paperwork and more headaches trying to keep up with the contributions. What it sounds like he is really talking about is people shaking hands with players after games with a $20 in the palm the way it has happened for decades.

I’m not rewarding a player for making a catch.

I’d be glad to reward a player for giving full effort and having a great season.
