real and true fan of the Clemson Tigers varsity football team. Some agreed, some didn't. But one thing I think we can all agree on is this...if you attended Winthrop instead of Clemson then that would absolutely eliminate any possibility of ever becoming a real and true fan of the Clemson Tigers.

I also appreciate the feature that allows tnet members, who are also alums, the ability to see not only who gives you a TU, but who gives you a TD as well.

Yes it is a coincidence you daughter hates football and attends Winthrop. Has she ever liked football?? I have loved Clemson since I was a kid. Unfortunately, Clemson for my education was not the best fit. Winthrop was a great fit and I would make the same decision again. My daughter loved Clemson so that’s where she graduated from. She did not like Winthrop. So who on this board is qualified to decide who is and is not a Clemson fan or is not worthy to be a Clemson Fan??? And what are the requirements to be a true Clemson fan??
Despite what some say on this board, you can still be a dedicated fanatical Clemson fan even if you went to Winthrop or some other school. You don’t have to be a Clemson Alum. to be a true Clemson fan.
In fact if you use the criteria that only Alums are true Clemson fans IMO, you would have a difficult time filling DV and funding an Elite Football program. Many of those fans never attended college or went somewhere else.
Take Dabo for example is he not a true Clemson fan because he attended and played football for Alabama??? He is not a Clemson Alum neither was DF. So how would you classify Dabo and Danny??? Are they Clemson worthy??? Are they true Clemson fans?? If they are true Clemson fans even though that went to Alabama why them and not Winthrop Alums or Alums from other schools who are true Clemson fans too???

Thank you Hopeful, I hadn't even noticed, and I guess that is bc I'm not here for the TUs... I'm here only to hear about and talk about our Clemson Tigers. For me Clemson is the best college in our country with amazing sports teams and the best sports fan base in the world, Go Clemson, Go Tigers, Go Tiger fan base!!!

Great post - wueagle86 !! As I said in another post - my wife is a Winthrop grad and is a fanatical Tiger fan... Clemson is the only team she really gets excited about watching .. while I will watch pretty much whatever college football is on ... lol... And - of course I think Winthrop is a very special school !!

Clemson became fully coeducational 45 years ago, in 1974.
My mother, a 1954 graduate of Winthrop College, is the biggest Clemson fan I know. No detail of the Clemson University football program escapes her notice. She knows the names of commits and recruits better than her grandsons’ names. She’s also a dedicated T-net reader, so be nice.

Are any of those friends a Clemson fan, just not a true Clemson fan? I Ididn't give you a TU bc I don't agree with your way of thinking about what constitutes being a true Clemson fan, but I promise you that I didn't give you a TD either. I can also promise you that there are some on here that if they don't agree with every single word that someone says in a post, they will TD that post, and every post there after!!!
I wish that who ever has the control of how this site run, that they would leave the TU selection for to reward those that has made a good post, and do away with the TD, and if someone has said something that someone don't agree with, they could debate it hopefully in an adult manner so that it would give the poster a chance to respond without them being knifed in the back by the TD, and the person/person's that gives the TD's on this site can't go silently away with a grin on their face bc they feel that they just showed you!!!
