They could have saved themselves a lot of ink by leaving the part about making or winning the CFP out of the contract.

They are so hungry for anything. Now it’s the only team to win 4 Outback bowls. Other teams win and move up to higher bowls. Oh well.

Muschamp hit his ceiling of 8 regular season wins earlier than most thought he would. Still, it's his ceiling and his career at SC has already peaked.

Many of their fans think they will beat UGA at WB in 2018. Recent success of their two most hated rivals has created some serious butthurt over there.

Yep. That fanbase hasn't caught on yet that despite Muschamp's eight wins, the gap between SC and Clemson and SC and UGA has only widened since signing day.

Don't short change him! He won nine this year!!

Jan 12, 2018, 3:56 PM

Kinda funny that espn made it a point to say they only have 6 seasons with 9 or more wins and one was with muschamp as a kinda reasoning to why he inked the deal?? Sad when last season was on of their 6 best seasons of all time haha. And carolina fans really think they are getting to our level. Also so sad they are having to brag and make sec national title t-shirts, even though they have never won the conference. To be claim SEC and how good it is I think you should have to have atleast 1 conference title not a division championship and got spanked in their biggest game ever haha Great time to be a Tiger!!

Funny comment about Muscoot

Jan 12, 2018, 4:59 PM

If you look in the comment section below the article a Florida fan wrote "Man, ss bad as the Gator offense was this season at #109, South Carolina's was just as bad at 108. I guess that's the difference between coaching at UF and coaching at South Carolina. You can have one of the worst offenses in college football and get a raise there."

Spot-on, Florida fan!

Pretty amazing that with such weak schedules they can't even compete for their own div title.

Only GA and Clemson are pre-season ranked.

Coastal Carolina
Georgia (5)
Marshall
at Vanderbilt
Kentucky
Missouri
Texas A&M
Tennessee
at Ole Miss
at Florida
UT-Chattanooga
at Clemson (2)

Jan 12, 2018, 4:36 PM

our Tigers have 25 seasons with at least 9 wins. Just one more stat in the domination of the Coots.

Muschump May have a chance to be fairly successful at SC but IMO many changes need to

Jan 13, 2018, 12:00 PM

be made.

The first thing I would do is hire a demolition team to level WB and start from scratch building a new stadium that is more fan friendly. I would set up a student section to bring more students to the games and make their section special. A new stadium will give the fans something new to focus on and help change the culture in cootsville. WB and losing go hand and had. When pulled up to the stadium for a game it has to be depressing. It is also important build a student friendly village around the new stadium so it is safe to attend games, the students have placed to go within walking distance and will have entertainment near the stadium. When building the new stadium make sure there is plenty of room for quality tailgating.

Muschump’s responsibility is to field teams that can compete ( very difficult task ) with Mullen and Pruitt now at Florida and UT. Stop playing a cupcake schedule and focus on the recruits that Clemson is not recruiting. That is a losing battle for the coots except for an ocassioal kid who grew up a diehard coot fan. The most important thing for muschump is to start thinking outside the box. Dream Big! Start new traditions because most of your current ones are associated with losing.

The fans will have to except the fact that they may not win more than 5 to 8 games for probably the next 4 to 8 years. Stop excepting moral victories, except a loss as a loss. Beating teams like UL by 1 point with a last minute FG should be looked on as a lose. And coot Fans you must learn to lose with Class and stop throwing things at opposing fans and teams.

The most important thing for fans is to stop being consumed by Clemson’s success and stop building your season around beating just 1 team; Clemson. Focus on SC’s program not ours.

Now coot fans make up your mind you are going to give muschump at least 10 to 12 years to change the culture of coot football or fire in in 4 or 5 years after 7 and 8 win seasons. Set higher expectations but realize It takes time to change generations of current coot thinking.

IMO this is the only way for coot football to become a competitive SEC team. The only reason I say stick with muschump is because you have so much money invested in him now. Personally I would have gone after Satterfield and his entire staff from App St or another young successful coach that can relate to the players a little more than muschump can.

Equally important is you are must decide weather you are a women’s basketball school or a football school.

Make all these changes and over time you might just become a more legit football school. But you should not get excited about this past 9 win season because you only beat 3 teams with winning records. Now you have Dan Mullen and Jeremy Pruitt to contend with. So that makes you goal of becoming a yearly competitor for the SEC East.

A few last thought. Years ago you had the coach who I think could have been successful at SC, Charlie Strong. Brad Scott was another one you let slip away. Stop running coaches out of town every 5 years and stop hiring coaches who are nearing the end of their career.

IMO, this is the only way I believe SC can every be anything more than an average football program.
