VERY attractive job and suddenly high profile. Look at the last two WR coaches here:

Dabo- WR coach to HC

Jeff - WR coach to OC ( presumably)

Willy Korn is the WR coach at Charleston Southern. Interesting.

Step from appstate would be a really nice hire imo

I'd fully expect that Chad Morris will be his own offensive coordinator.

Would Scott coach TEs at that point?

Nov 30, 2014, 6:46 PM

I am fine with him as our WR coach.

Would Clemson consider Korn over Gruden???

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Gruden??? That makes zero sense.

Nov 30, 2014, 8:23 PM

Why would Gruden want to coach here and why would we hire him? What we would or could pay him would be pocket change and why would he want to go so far backwards for pocket change?

I don't see why jeff couldn't be both. Chad was qbs and

Nov 30, 2014, 6:48 PM

Off. Coordinator. I would imagine it wouldn't be much stress at all if he had help or especially if someone took over qbs but regardless he's going to be working with the offense anyways as a whole so he could give instruction at practice simultaneously.

much, much easier to do that with qb's than WRs***

It could work, but a "real" lack of this experience.

It only works if Scott is here... If Dabo thinks Korn has

a bright future, bring him on board. He could be mentored by Jeff, but still be responsible for his group. He'd likely be here a long time.

I don't care.... just throwing it out

Korn would be a good addition

Nov 30, 2014, 6:59 PM

Scott has been prepping for this move.
Did a great job at blythewood hs won state.
I'm certain brad advises him.
Lots of youth, energy, and passion.

If Scott becomes the oc, he would

Nov 30, 2014, 7:00 PM

still be the wr coach. They would need to hire a quarterback coach to replace Morris. An offensive coordinator is still a position coach.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Gruden wanted the job

Nov 30, 2014, 7:04 PM

Just saying

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So who is the QB coach then?

Nov 30, 2014, 8:01 PM

we have no one on staff who has ever coached them or played the position.

idk.... but if Dabo promotes Scott... he'll have to find one

I just don't see Jeff being WR and OC,,, That's very tough, even for experienced OC's

Scott could coach RB's and move Elliott to WR and

Dec 1, 2014, 3:53 PM

recruiting coordinator. Have to hire a QB coach if Scott is promoted, period. Appears as though Dabo won't tip his hand anytime soon. I do expect us to interview OC/QB combo candidates. Scott being promoted to co-OC with a hefty raise should be enough to retain him if we go outside

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Isn't that what Streeter coaches now?***

Nov 30, 2014, 8:17 PM [ in reply to Re: If Scott gets promoted, the WR coaching spot at Clemson is a ]

Move him to WR Coach and hire James Davis as RB coach. Keep it all in the family.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I would agree if Scott is promoted a WR coach needs to be brought in

Nov 30, 2014, 7:43 PM

So Scott can focus on coordinating the offense and recruiting. He will still be involved with receivers but that would be a lot on his plate for a guy who has never been a coordinator before (oc, recruiting, and wr's).

Morris coaching qb's was a little different because his system is so QB centered it wouldn't really make sense to have another coach other than himself coaching qb's. I think if he was going to run basically the same system Scott would take over QB coaching but I think we would need a WR coach that has some experience calling plays and being involved with different offenses as Scott is still going to need some advice from time to time.

Nov 30, 2014, 7:46 PM

It seems like the wide receiver gold rush started when William Christopher got here, but my understanding is Scott took the role of recruiting coordinator to a new level and appearently has done a remarkable job identifying and developing talent at wide out. I like him and he is an up and comer. We need a QB coach, and hopefully he is a salty veteran that identifies with the HUNH. The rest will work itself out.
