In terms of Fundamentals, All levels of Football have Regressed

Beyond Pandemic Levels. Nobody hits in practice anymore. Thus, tackling is absolutely horrible, Offensive Linemen play with horrible technique (do not use leverage)!!!!! Additionally, Liberals like Roger Goodell have de-emphasized the Kicking game by kicking off from the 35 instead of the 30. In the College game, the evolution of bogus "Targeting Calls". And lastly, instant replay is a joke. Other than that ... All is well.

For a few decades now. I would argue, however, that TV and very saavy marketing have helped to keep it # 1.

rules changes that make the game safer. They understand that football can be fun to watch without getting players killed.
Just because you did something one way in the past doesn't make it the only way or the right way. Change is inevitable.

I never said Change is Liberal!!!!! I said Roger Goodell's policies are Liberal. As they keep implementing these type of policies, then Football will eventually die. Lawsuits, etc. will eventually turn the NFL into the National Flag League!

Implementing rules in an attempt to make the game safer is going to lead to lawsuits? I think you have it backwards.

Yep and TV marketing execs want big scoring and no major injuries to the branded talent that bring in ratings. They also want lots of off-field drama to promote, so any girlfriend slapping incidents etc. are a ratings goldmine. Sadly the entertainment industry could care less about pure athletic performance. Games that end 10-7 just don't sell.
The head injury avoidance stuff is mostly lip service. If they cared they would slow the game down and use softer helmets that better compromised between cerebral hemorrhage risk and concussion risk Instead of building a stronger and stronger battering ram of a helmet. Notice your car is not made safer by making it more resistant to external deformation. They just don't want the brand names (QB/RB/WR) to get head injuries. If you play OT you can drool when you speak for all ESPN cares.

What's wrong: In my opinion, it has to do with "Overwhelming Evidence" to change anything. Many review crews lack the intestinal fortitude to make a decision based on what their eyes see.

Attempting to keep players somewhat coherent in their 50's is liberal, Obama, hippie, B.S. I want my football players to get stuck in their own living rooms because they can't remember where the front door is located. That's the way football was under Reagan.

Does not make the game "better or safer". It eliminates great Special teams play and severely limits the opportunities of great kick returners! Based on those changes a few years ago, why not skip Kickoffs and place the ball on the20 or 25!

What's funny

Is that the NFL studied head injuries and found that many happened on kick offs, and mainly to special teams fodder that the team didn't care about. You have a head injury or neck injury, well, you can keep playing or we can cut you and bring in another guy to run as fast as he can down the field and run into someone.

So you're saying that most conservatives prefer the back door ? I am now among the confused . I thought Reagan seemed normal.

Players don't "play smart" as much as they used to.
Jan 11, 2015, 5:16 PM
|
|
Defenders in pursuit don't take the right angles or don't allow spacing between team mates so that a cut that should only beat one defender allows a runner to elude three.

defenders bunch up on the sideline and let the runner cut back to the middle of the field. Or why a receiver doesn't secure the ball on 4th down rather than try to make something extra happen. Just not smart.
