USC already has a decent QB and Nelson has flipped from OU to USC for next years class, can't see where he would find playing time.

try to steal Caleb Williams out of Oklahoma. Call me skeptical but it is hard for me to believe that Riley really wants DJ as his starting QB at USC. If there is anything to this rumor, Riley is willing to give DJ a spot on the roster because he thinks it will help with his real motive which is to secure DJ's brother...

Could happen. I used to work with some guys that wanted to buy franchises for TX and they had the money to do it. They were told in no uncertain terms that IN & OUT would never have locations in TX. 4 years later they were popping up around Dallas like mushrooms.

Cade will be here in January and I’m sure he will do as good as a freshman as DJ as a Sophomore.
So, I personally don’t think it really matters. My opinion Clemson won’t win another title with DJ under center, so no big loss here. We should portal swap DJ for Max Johnson from LSU. Then maybe we could get his brother Jake Johnson to commit. ??

I haven't given up on DJ yet. We've seen what he can do based on how he played last year. I'm not sure what happened this year, but I also can't place all the blame on him. I think he lost a lot of faith in his OL after the Georgia game and that messed with him a lot. By the time the OL started to play better he had most of his receivers out with injury and he himself had a hurt knee and splint on a finger on his throwing hand. The injuries to himself aside, not being able to develop chemistry with your receivers is a very big deal. He seemed to develop good chemistry with Collins later in the year which makes me wonder how different things may have been if he had a chance to do that with our other receivers.
Even if you don't have any faith in DJ then we still need him IMO. Even if Cade comes in and plays at an elite level right away we'd be one injury away from disaster due to our depth at QB. Also, competition makes everyone better.

Unless Riley thinks he can turn DJ into a superstar, they already have options at QB and he's likely to get PT here at Clemson next year. It might be a Bryant - Lawrence situation, but DJ will be the game 1 starter next year and Klubnik will have to win the job from him during the season.

Riley likes smaller, nimble of foot guys predominantly to run his version of the Air Raid offense.
DJ is the very antithesis of small, light and nimble on his feet.
The family angle and distance from home would certainly weigh into that being a move that DJ would seriously consider, I think, from his standpoint. As I said, the interest coming the other way from Riley, given DJ's physical makeup, is what makes me doubt the rumor.

Maybe this rumor is true, but as others have stated, DJ is not the main target. Obviously his brother is a target, but if DJ did go back to Cali, I’m guessing Beaux would transfer as well. With USCs best wr declaring for the NFL, and Riley’s former Oklahoma wr recruits being in the 23 class, they’ll be in need of some proven playmakers out wide next season.

DJ isn't salvageable IMO. There are just too many things wrong and some of his issues aren't fixable.
It may be best for all parties involved. If DJ is going to fail at the college level, may as well do it close to home.
One thing we know for sure: Riley won't promise him anything and there is a good chance DJ won't earn the starting job.
