Honestly, Brice. Go back and watch that 4th and 6. Granted DJ was WAY, WAY, WAY better but dang Brice was just not willing to quit.

Brice was 3rd on the charts 7 days prior...

He has a bullet for an arm, but he's staring down receivers.

From what I saw, I'm not sure he has multiple reads on the plays. The decision where to go may be being made pre-snap.

Not downplaying his ability, but he has a long way to go.

Saw multiple times when DJ worked through the progression. You could see him start to pump and then work across the field. Powell looked great today

I love what CB did for Clemson, but it's a single play that stands

out. DJU performed at that level the whole game... almost.

DJ hands down.

finish in spectacular fashion and never blinked. He was cool as a cucumber and in control at all times. And he had zero run game to lean on. It was all on him.

What does a Gamecock grad call a Clemson Tiger grad in 2 years?

DJ gets my vote.

Easily DJ.

However, Chase's game was more impactful unless we win the national championship this year too.

No comparison.

Tough, tough choice.

Brice came in and threw a pic early on and managed well the rest of the way on the back of ETN and that infamous nerves of steel 4th and 6 play. We win out and become national champs ??

Big 5inco came in given a last minute nptice that TL is out with COVID and BC played almost as good of a half as you could with everything going their way...and didn't let that frazzle him to force things.

I'll give a slight edge to DJU for a full game peeformance and hopefully history repeats bringing another Natty back to Tiger town! ????

It’s not close, ETN carried us in that 2018 Syracuse game

Oct 31, 2020, 6:25 PM

Chase Brice was 7/13 for 83 yds and 1 INT
DJ today was 30/41 for 342 yds and 2 TD (and another rushing TD)

...with admitted recency bias.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

DJ by a wide margin IMO

Oct 31, 2020, 6:56 PM

We ran all over Cuse in that 2018 game. Etienne carried the load and had over 200 rushing yards. Chase made a great throw on the 4th down but he also made some bad mistakes in that game and wasn't asked to do alot. He threw 13 passes for 84 yards and had a pick.

DJ was in a very different situation today. There was no running game to help him out, our weapons out wide aren't on the same level. DJ had to throw the ball 41 times for 342 yards to rescue us. He accounted for about 75%of our offense today.

Re: More impressive? Brice vs Cuse or DJ vs BC

DJ and its not even close....people forget that before 4th and 6th chase looked very shaky. Etienne carried the team against syracuse.

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

Oct 31, 2020, 7:33 PM

DJ for sure, We leaned on Travis against Syracuse and he willed his way to the win. Brice has average against Syracuse, but made one critical play that got us over the hump. DJ showed excelllent poise and led us down 18 to the win. DJ is obviously a more talented player than Brice and DJ made some bread throws and decisions

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Totally different situations, IMO..

Oct 31, 2020, 7:45 PM

DJ knew he was going to start and had more reps with starters most of the week and would have had more time to prepare mentally. Chase had to come off the bench and immediately get his head totally in the game

Hard to say which one did better. But, both had huge roles in keeping the zero in the loss column

This is a fair response ??

Chase was a third stringer that probably had little practice with the starters and ran scout team if I remember right. Literally becomes the backup overnight and the team had that whirlwind of a week where KB2 left the team.

Big 5inco gets full starter reps last minute but puts on about as good of a performance a freshman can in his debut - boy if today is any indicator, QB is going to continue to not be a question mark for years to come ??????

Is this really debated? Anyone who seriously argues it was Brice doesn't know football.

Chase Brice came in in the second quarter down 16-7. He had one of the most talented casts in football history around him. The rest of the game, the defense clamped down. Syracuse scored one more touchdown when Rodgers muffed a punt on the 10 yard line. He had an experienced offensive line that protected him and was throwing to Higgins, Ross, and Renfrow. In a little over two quarters, he completed 53% of his passes for 83 yards (5.5 ypa), no touchdowns, and a pick. He ran 3 times for -2 yards. Meanwhile, Etienne and Adam Choice ran for 183 total yards and 2 touchdowns in the second half. Brice was responsible for 17% of Clemson's offensive yards. To give full credit, Brice had one amazing play on 4th down to lead the final touchdown drive.

Today, DJ came into the game missing both Frank Ladson and Joseph Ngata, 2 of Clemson's 3 best receivers this year. In the first half, a decimated defense was carved up by the ACC's third best passing attack (behind Clemson and UNC). But DJ completed 73% of his passes for 342 yards (8.3 ypa), 2 touchdowns, no interceptions, and carried the ball 6 times for 25 yards and another touchdown. The rest of the team only managed 84 yards rushing for 3.6 ypc. He led the biggest comeback Clemson's ever had in death valley. He was responsible for 82% of Clemson's offensive production.

I think this debate is insane. Here are DJ's numbers compared to Trevor's this year: #2 in total yards to Trevor's game against GT, #4 in accuracy, tied with his touchdown average. And that was with missing those two receivers. Despite missing so many playmakers, DJ had a game in line with the Heisman frontrunner. Chase Brice just managed a team of weapons and didn't lose the game.
